Utah state

I'm thinking about going to Utah state this fall, and I'm wondering if i could get some opinions from somebody who is already a student there. How do you like the area? what is the college like? how easy is it to get rides to beaver and salt lake? Is there any good climbing in the area?

thanks

many of my good friends in slc have gone to school in logan and i've been up there a fair amount.

there is climbing in logan canyon and i have enjoyed it every time i've been up there.

there is lots to do outdoors from floating rivers to hiking, and you aren't far from ID at all.

many of my friends initially met ridesharing to the beav. slc is a couple of hours away, might be tougher to find a ride there, but not impossible especially once you know a good amount of people.

there are a few places to have fun in logan, and there are a lot of fun people up there, but there is a large mormon presence in the cache valley from what i understand. however, that's utah. there is no use in worrying about stuff like that. make your own fun.

they all liked the school a lot, it's a nice campus too.

hope that helps even if it's a hodgepodge of weekend trips and secondhand info.

sorry dub, mobile blows. beaver is only fun on a pow day. there is tons of outdoor stuff in cache, hockey and basketball are awesome there. the school is ok but nothing like most large schools. the ski and snowboarding park scene consists of a handfull of people. if you want to ski utah and dont have a sled stay away from logan. other than that the free bus.system is money and shit is relatively cheep. there is a good art scene as well

Yeah it BYU overflow school. The momos are just a few steps closer to being normal than their BYU counterparts.

Just don't go there. The skiing scene is really weak. If you do go, hit up rush week for Sigma Chi, Free load for 5 days and bail. SOO much free pizza

haha truth. but for real me and Jaywolf went to usu for 2 years and both spent 4 days a week in salt lake couch surfing... hes at slcc now and im headed to the U so we both bailed on logan for next year. just go to the U if you can.

besides a swear there is like 1 cop for every 3 non mormon students in logan haha

Dude I went there this year, and the ski scene has changed. We had 4 guys, and we would have Tuesday and Thursday off. Those days we would go to the Beav which yeah kinda sucks, but its skiing, and the backside on the powder day has 50+ drops. On weekends though we would go to Salt lake ski snowbird in the day and Park city at night. Then do it again sunday then drive home. So skiing 4 days a week was not that bad. Yeah there are a bunch of mormon idiots, but there are some good skiers and snowboarders who have sleds and you can find some sick backcountry stuff. Idk though. If you can go to U of U go there for sure, but Utah State worked out for me this year.

well ive been here a week now, and ive met more catholics and jews than mormons, so thats pretty sweet

backside of beaver have potential hitchhiking or ride shuttle access?
