Utah on Mormons and nightlife

Considering moving to somewhere in Utah for a few years to be a ski bum. The one thing I'm worried about is the lack of nightlife, girls willing to do things, apré ski ect. Would like to hear from people who have been to Utah, live in Utah or know about utah so I don't end up with a "dry" winter.

-Thanks, Skylor

bro honestly im here rn going to school at u of u and I dont like it very much I'm mostly likely going abroad for a year or going to transfer. the skiing is cool but i hate the culture. weed is expensive compared to washington and the girls r hot but absolutte cunts (the ones from utah). basically i wouldnt come if I were u. u cant even buy a real beer from anywere besides the liquor store. everything is 3.2% i have to drink at least 15 3.2% nattys. this is jus me tho I come from seattle and its way more fun there.

Thank you for the feedback, that's a big turn off for me then.

smh I guess nobody looks further into the beer than the stereotype...

Utah beer that isn't sold individually bottled in a liquor store is 3.2% by weight, ABW

Most other states measure their beers by volume, ABV

3.2% ABW = 4% ABV

all light beers (including Natty Light) are between 4.1-4.3% ABV, PBR is 4.74% and Heineken, Coors banquet and Budwieser are 5%, obviously craft brews go up from there

its obviously annoying that Mormons who don't even drink dictate this silly law, but the beer is not as weak as people think

The number of people who have based decisions that will affect the rest of their lives on a 1% alcohol difference is astonishing

beer clearly is not the biggest factor. However, it says something about the people that live here. obviously there is cool people everywhere, but there are a lot more boners compared to where i am from. Everybody is different

Yeah but that 3.5% means no hard alcohol which means no clubbing, watered down light beer and not much of an apré ski experience. I'm looking for a nice place to live near a resort that is lively.

If it snows in the city, you won't have to worry about having a dry winter:

You'll find the same stuff in Utah as you will in any other state, it all just comes down to meeting the right people.

Grew up in Seattle, lived in Utah and a lot of other places, now I'm back in Seattle. There are boners here too. I actually think Seattle drivers are more annoying than Utah drivers.

I am going to school out here and have been for the last couple years. Here's the thing if you are coming here to ski there really isn't anywhere you can go to beat it. The one things that I really learned is that you need to make connections when you get out here. If you do this there are plenty of rad chicks, weed, and booze to go around. So what you got to drink a few more shitty beers to cop a buzz, you can drive 30 minutes from your door in salt lake to 6 world class ski resorts.

With that being said, it is way more crowded here than it used to be so don't come here. There's no booze, weed or girls, plus global warming.

This is also very true, waited 3 hours the other day to get up solitude.......

speaking of utah, why do you guys never have any street lights? I noticed that unlike most cities I've been to, utah is always dark as fuck at night as theres no street lights whatsoever... is it cause of the mormons? are street lights shining away brightness of the lord?

The U has a pretty solid party scene, especially during football season. Just get liquor in advance from liquor stores and the skiing is some of the best in the world. Girls are plenty willing to do shit, same as everywhere else, everyone fucks, even the Mormon party girl cheerleaders. The internet has seemed to have freed up their minds somehow.

There is plenty of hard alcohol at the liquor store, open 6 days a week until 10pm.

I think you should go to CU bolder my dude, people party there.

I mean, if you're referring to girls as cunts there is probably a reason why you're not getting anywhere with them.

Dude what are you smoking? You can buy beer at the grocery store and it's just as strong as other states. I'm not saying you can buy 18% abv beers, but all the stuff you likely drink on and binge is there. Someone already pointed out your mistake between abv and abw. Do you really think coors, budweiser, Miller, natty, etc are gonna change their recipes for one state? #scrub. No it's a label change that means nothing.

And welcome to college bro. You must be going after the "I only date DI athletes" type of girls. They're obviously gonna be cunts to you since they're gold diggers or because you sound like a douche and they don't like you. No offense. Some people are just naturally douchy.

Also I love how OP somehow filtered through all the other relevant advice and took yours seriously. Drugs, beer, and sex were literally all you said. Wow. Oh and NATTY LIGHT IS NOT REAL BEER. As Ricky from trailer park Boys would say.... "you are fucked!"

to me Salt Lake has a strange vibe...but my brother really enjoys going to school there. I also have some buddies who work/ live up at Alta cooking and bartending and have the most dialed ski bum gig, and don't have to deal with the momos

Its actually beer produced for states with 3.2% ABW laws, Utah isn't the only state that does this. As someone said, its 4% ABV and mostly cheap beer you buy at the store is 5% ABV or less, bascially every light beer is 4.2% ABV (some are less, like low cal beers are 3.8-4). So yes, there is basically no difference, I feel your pain man, I've been preaching about Utah beer for years and I've given up, idgaf if someone doesn't wanna come to utah because of the booze, fuck em.

On a side note, Oklahoma used to be a HUGE consumer of 3.2% ABW beer (55% or so of the market) and they recently passed legislation to sell normal beer in stores. Utah is going to be forced to change their legislation in the next year, beer companies have said they might stop producing 3.2% ABW beer. Either way, when we're talking about 18-23 year olds buying beer, its always cheap, shitty, low ABV beer in the first place.

All i'm saying is that I like washington more than utah as of now, maybe that will change.

Thats fine, just don't be that chode who tells everyone utah sucks because you have to drink 15 (bullshit) natty lights to get drunk.

honestly, I live up in Alta and it sucks. The snow here sucks, its a desert so we barely get any snow. The beer is wack, you can't even get drunk. Theres no weed. And theres no cool girls at all who don't shred at all. EVERYONE up here is mormon and theres no community feel.

Colorado is way better, in all facets. You should most certainly move there, not here.

Heard it here first.

see u in boulder!!!!!!!

I would probably have to drink 15 natty lights to get drunk, if I could handle drinking natty light. That's more because I have a problem and not as much reflected on the drinking laws though.

The other post was making me think about places that are super overrated, and the utah fanboys had me thinking of boulder.

Utah is cool, but Jesus christ the hypetrain dickriders. I don't even think brahlorado has that if you get more than 45 min from denver in any direction.

Tell more people then sucks here please.

Mormons like anal tho

And you’re not bro enough to handle 3.2% at 5,200’ anyway.

I had 2 wine coolers on vacation last year and got fucked up. My mom gave me a bunch of shit about it. We were at 3,500 though. Even sober it was hard to catch my breath.

Fun fact: drinking at high altitudes doesn’t get you drunker. It’s a myth.

I heard mormon bitches and little mormon nikkus get off on this weird ritual where they orgasm but don't even go male part to female part.

Your BAC is the same, but you have less oxygen in your blood, so your intoxication is magnified.

Btw, if you want to get drunk but only have those softcore beers, put a straw in your bottle and put the bottle upside down in your mouth (except for the straw ofcourse), you literally finish beerbottles in two seconds or less
