Utah and Colorado

Im thinking of going to school out in Utah or Colorado after i graduate from high school. Does anyone go to school out there? I looked at Weber State when i was out there over february break but would rather talk to someone who actually goes to a school out there.

Utah=30 min away from skiing+sick ski community. Don't say shit about mormons, because mormons are some of the nicest people i have met. Wherever there are skiers, there is a party. Don't trip about not partying you will find a way and you will get to ski a SHITLOAD.

i have nothing against the mormons. i have been to utah and its sweet i just havent been to colorado. but i want to go in an area like that if possible

yeah dude. Colorado is awful. Everyone's moving out of the state because its so bad. I'd recommend New Jersey...so much better..

i have lived in both states...

love them both.

utah has sick snow, not all mormans are bad, and yea... people like to party here.

yeah a season pass is like $4500 too.....extremely expensive. if i wasn't mormon i'd probably move, but we're trying to save the natives.

i no nothing about the schools in utah, but you can throw down some sick skiing and some sick freeride biking there.

if you have a drug problem then i would really suggest not going to utah, most of my friends who were stoners and went to boulder ended up becoming bigger stoners and basically flunking out.
i grew up skiing in colorado and looked at a lot of schools there, good schools, but all really far from the mountains so i picked the u of u, and i really like it here. utah is very very mello, everyone is really cool and the city is very liberal for the most part.

hahaha, i hope you could tell by my sarcasm that colorado is the shit. There's just too many people moving here.

yeah its understandable. im just trying to get feedback so i can pick schools out so my parents will get off my case about it.

go to uc boulder and your like an hour from loveland, hour and a half from keystone a basin and breck, 2 hours from vail and beaver creek and SKI COOPER (get a pass there), 3 from aspen, and 6 from TELLURIDE

im going to have to say go to colorado... even when there's an abundance of nipple deep pow (not to mention some of the lightest snow on earth), i dont want you shreding my lines...

ya but if the pass is closed your not going to be able to get to Vail, Beaver Creek, Copper or Aspen, and it takes longer then 2 hours to get to Vail from Boulder, try like up to 6 hours if theirs traffic and snow.

Ski Area Operations

Outdoor Recreational Leadership

Natural Resource Management

Business

just to name a few degrees,

i just graduated with an AA in Ski area operations. SICK DEGREE, if you want to ski for the rest of you life...

Too bad it doesn't get you anywhere like any other community college degree. You really think an actual resort will take someone from CMC over some one from a 4 year degree in business/marketing from an actual school? Corporations are going to hire someone with an actual degree from an actual school over someone who got an A.A. with classes that are at an 8th grade reading level. CMC is a joke. If you want cheap credits and to live in the mountains then take online classes through your local community college for $20 a unit.

And don't give some anecdotal story about how your one friend graduated and is now high up at Vail resorts. Those are based on luck and connections.

word that school was a joke. can't believe people are proud to say they attended that school. it's called SEEMESKI for a reason. there is no school, its an almost adult camp.

I am from Colorado and I am living in Tulsa right now and it has really put things into perspective. Colorado is the shit and the skiing is good. I have never complained about the snow conditions and if there is no powder the parks are some of the best in the world. If you go to a good school ie CU CSU Mines DU Colorado College Air Force you are going to be a haul to the mountains but I usually get at least 1 day a week off and it is no traffic. You just have to work around the weekend warrior schedule.

On top of that Boulder, Ft. Collins, and Golden are sick places with in themselves and Denver is hands down my favorite place to go out and party... Well maby Vegas or Havasu or Cancun but for regular partying it is cool. The LO DO area is really progressing and the Denver sports teams are plentiful. Colorado is expensive compared to other places but I believe its worth it.

I had fridays off last year and I had no problem getting 50 days in. It helps to have a friend with a condo or even a couch. I have been to Utah and it is very similar but better snow fucked up cops and mo mo's. There is house parties but no good down town... SLC is pretty tight but the cops still suck.

Well thats my two cents but anyway fuck off we don't want any more out of state people anyway... jk

you meet alot of cool people through online courses....part of being in school, is being in school. as far as mountain schools there probably arent many like cmc. you should take your univeristy of nowIMbroke degree and shush.

You can meet people if you have a job in a mountain town or if you are actually friendly. I am not speaking from experience, but I assume the girls of CMC are pretty busted.

i go to cmc as well so there isnt much i can say. but there are some stupid things about the school. it does seem a bit useless most of the time. I'm considering dropping out actually cause most of the time its just like, damn, Im seriously paying for this shit? adult camp is a good way to put it.

easy negative nancy. he never said what kind of school he preferred. my mom told me to go to college, i wanted to ski, so CMC was a damn fine place for me to go. I got to ski 150days while in school full time. yeah the classes are easy, but you learn everything you would need to know about a ski area and how to run it. i didnt go to the college to sit behind a desk for the rest of my life. i went to that college because i know i will be skiing for the rest of my life and probably working at a ski area for the rest of my life, so it fit me well, maybe it doesnt fit you well, but thats your life...and this was mine. i am now graduated with a degree in SAO, top of my class with a 4.0 GPA, which isnt hard to do at CMC, but it raised my pay 25% at my current workplace and i can get a job super easily at any ski area without as much hassle. you can have your opinion, and ill have mine, no hard feelings but dont diss a college that hard man. take it easy on us ski bums.

Well CMC is only good if you are going to get your AA and are going to transfer to a university, or you know you are going to be a ski bum for the rest of your life. I thought I knew what I was going to do when I graduated from HS, but it's seriously changed like five times. In our economy today you need to find something that will keep you sound.

ive lived in both. i went to the U for 2 years and grew up in CO. utah is has hands down the best skiing ever. so much pow and steeps/cliffs its amazing. colorado dominates utahs parks no problem but there isnt quite as much snow. utah gets around 5-600 inches and most of CO gets around 300. as for things to do, i thought utah was kinda boring other than skiing. i think theres a ton more things to do outdoors in colorado which is why i moved back. im going to be at fort lewis which is a small school with normal people and no mormons to piss me off.

utah mos def.

but colorado is chill too.

so what ever is good.

but i read that you are interested in weber state.

DONT GO THERE

go to the university of utah.

weber state has pretty shit ski resorts near it. and not that many.

and the U of U has like 8 resorts with in 45 minutes of commuting.

im going to the U of U this fall and im excited.

u of montana boozeman or U of Nevada reno if you like to ski are also options. reno 30 min from tahoe. boozman 30 min from big sky. and if go to nevada you can gamble

you can gamble if you are 21 in nevada...in california you can gamble at 18 in indian casinos.
