USSA......

does anybody else think that this is gay. i tried to sign up for the north america open hosted by Jon and Simon and because USSA is sponsoring it you have to pay 100$ for entry and there is a 60$ anual fee. i think this is ruining freeskiing.

I don't really know anything about the USSA, but if they're hosting events, doesn't it mean they have to cover insurance and all the setup costs?

are you joking? ussa is awesome they keep skiing elitist to ensure that you don't have to ski with poor people. it rules.

the prices and fees and stuff are definitly gay, but it is because they are making a legit comp series sort of thing and ussa is the best method of organizing something like that. plus the insurance is a big part of it too. paying for it sucks, but it should make for some dope comps. or else.

hahahaha!!!
to the poster: why don't you try looking for a sponsor to help pay for part of your entry fee? like your local ski shop or something? its worth a try...

How can an organization possibly ruin freeskiing . Freeskiing is an oxymoron to begin with don't you think?

i was gonna sign up for the one at mt snow, then i saw that you have to pay 60 dollars for ussa membership or whatever the rate is, AND 100 dollars for each event, AND a lift ticket! Im competing in the US open for cheaper! so i guess im not doing the comp at mt snow

Freeskiing will always be free but organizations can ruin specific aspects of the sport. Look at the FIS and mogul skiing in the 90, remember how cool that was? From what I can tell not all that much has changed in the governing body of the FIS so why the hell do people want to get involved with them now?

hey be careful about which level of membership u choose if u sign up...certain levels are only regional etc-I though I could sign up as rookie if I wanted to cuz I've never signed up before(still haven't)and rookie is for first yr members n is cheaper-but I would have to choose a region-I'm in CO so I wanna compete in the Breck tour but I'm also gonna b back at my home hill for the Mount Snow one...so def read the fine print on that shit-dunno if I'm even gonna b able to afford it but if I have a chance to compete in 2 outta the 3 stops it's almost worth it...

Shit, you have to have a membership. Then pay $60 for all three stops even if you're only doing one, then $100 for the slopestyle or pipe contest or $175 for each, fuck that. I was really looking forward to this until now. To me an open is, the lunch you buy at the resort costs more than the entry fee.

Bigger entry fee means bigger cash prizes!
But I think it would sometimes be better to just eliminate both and compete cuz its fun.

maybe for the mount trashmore super shitty slopestyle. an is an open because anyone can sign up, not the price. have you see registration costs for other big freeskiing open events? not cheap.

When a competition at MOUNT SNOW costs more than the US open, i think theres a problem..........and i know someone is going to challenge this, so ill back it up. mt snow lift ticket = 70 dollars, registration = 100 dollars, USSA late fee is 120 i believe, and the full membership, not regional shit is 100 or something ? that puts me up to 290$, well over the us open.

oh and also, more money does not equal more cash. none of that membership fee for ussa is going to the cash purse in the event. That goes to insurance and judges and such.

Yeah, it's all pretty bogus.

But I guess it really just comes down to how well you know you can do, and how bad do you truly want it?
