well they judge everything based around moguls (steeze=loss)n judges are normally parents or friends of parents (their kids win) and u cant flip unless u qualifythats my experience with them
Agreed, more info please. Since they are pretty much the only game in town, if you want to compete you need the license. You sound like you haven't competed before so you probably qualify for the rookie membership which is at least cheaper than the full membership. I think it's like $45 or something. Then you will also probably have to pay regional dues. Since you didn't include your geographic area on your profile, I am not sure which USSA region you would need to contact.
Fuck USSA.It's a bullshit organization that wants to regulate skiing and make it more of a "sport"Ski for YOU (and your sponsors if you have them.) All the USSA wants is your money, and to ruin any kind of new creative approach to skiing or any interesting progress that the older members don't appreciate.
ya, i'm not a big fan of the USSA.The USASA on the other hand, is a pretty good organization. It is the USA Snowboard Association, but they run a lot of slopestyle, pipe, and skiercross comps, you might want to consider the USASA as an alternative.
Unless you go to a ski academy, no it is not worth competing in USSA. They're pretty uptight as well, and make it way to organized to be fun. I went to KMS and i hated it.
hahaha i'm really enjoying some of these responses.
Steeze does not equal loss. good landings/not sketchy shit = win. There's a huge difference between "mogul steeze" and good quality tricks and stomped landings. just because the judges might not reward afterbang doesn't mean they don't reward steeze runs.
and have you guys ever maybe thought that a regulated competition circuit wouldn't be such a bad thing for our sport? yeah man soul skiing's cool and all but not if you want people to see that skiing's a real thing
