Using the word "gay"

Its pretty embarassing to hear someone use that term, it just shows a huge amount of immaturity and lack of knowledge about the gay community. One example being Peter Olenick's JOSS video where his 'bros' described of how he was so 'gay' now that he had stopped drinking.

i try not to use it because, well, simply, thats not nice to gay people. and i have nothing against gay people..so why be mean? I mean, im pretty sure it would offend me if i was gay.

it slips every once in a while though.
 
thats one of the most obnoxious things ever. if it really bothers you, get the point across by saying "Dont say things are gay." being a smartass just makes people hate you IMO

I ussually use the term "homosexual" when it comes to 'gay' people..

I dont say gay very much, but I do tend to say "fag" a lot... which is fine, because in a way, i'm cursing butts..

same. my friends that are actually gay use the word more then i do, as well as the words fag and douche-bag.Though i do realize some people make take offence to it, i feel that those words have slowly changed meanings, from being derogatory to homosexuals to just implying someone is an asshole.
 
Thank you good sir. You've helped me realize why I hate gays. It's because they try to define what I can and can't say. Nobody has the right to curtail my freedom of speech regardless of their sexual orientation.
 
living in vermont there is a good amount of gay people. i don't real use the word often because if i were i wouldn't want someone using it as bad thing. also the word retard. i know a kid who has mental disabilities amd he is awesome, funny,and i really like him. he always tells me that he hates when kids use the "R" word as he says
 
in my area gay has lost its negative connotation although i personally dont use it that much if ever. i think this site influences that haha. but i know a few openly gay kids and they couldnt give any fewer shits when someone says it. but they arent hated on at all so i dont know if that changes anything

didnt read but gonna give my input anyways cuz i dorta feel strongy about this but not enough to read. : I use this word all the time, i mean it i no way to be derogatory towards real gay ppl. its one of those words that is really suitable for everything.
 
I honestly get pissed at people who take offense when you use the word... It's been ingrained in our society and obviously when people use it is usually never in reference at all to homo-sexuality to begin with.
 
So have a lot of other words, doesn't make them right. I don't get offended when people call shit gay though. I tend to do it myself. But just saying that with some words, just because they're integrated into society doesn't make them right.
 
i use it because it works well, saying "thats so gay" or "shut up f*g" just works so damn well. its really not my problem and i dont give a shit if you take that in the wrong way. if your stupid enough to think that me saying "thats gay" means that im actually referring to gay people or homosexuality as a bad thing then im fine with offending you. and if you are weak minded enough to let it get to you, then even more reason for me to not care.

I have nothing against gay people at all, i dont like dick and i like nothing about gay sex. but im all for people doing what they want in private, and some of my best friends are gay. and yes, i use these "homophobic slurs" around them all the time, and they are strong enough people to not care, shit they use it too.

Im so sick of all the PC dont offend anyone for anything, anti bullying bullshit out there. sorry but people will always offend you, and people are always going to have a problem with abnormality. being gay is not the norm, so naturally people are not going to treat you normally. everyone has their abnormalities, nobody is completely normal, people are always going to point out others differences, and nobody is going to like everyones differences. its human nature.

if you cant deal with the negative attention your differences bring you, then dont show them. if you are strong enough to rise above peoples criticism then go for it. let everyone know.
