Using other people's jumps?

Just wanted some input on what you guy's think.

So me and my mate got up the mountain today and it was such a perfect day but soo crowded so we decided to hike out the back and build a jump all day seeing's though there was some fresh snow. After about 2 hours of building it a pack of 5 snowboarders were waiting up the top for about half an hour for us to finish so they could hit it before we had even gone off it, so we decided to take turns of blocking the lip while the other person went off so the landing wouldn't get bombed out too quick. Then they started getting cocky and talked some shit and left. Then everyone hiking out the back wanted to go off it too so we kept on blocking it until we were done.

This is the second time in 2 weeks this has happened and i just wanted to know if this is normal or has happened to anyone else. I would never try and use someone elses jump that they had spent time to build unless they said to.

I don't see the problem. As long as they fixed the lip and landing, I'd happily share the wealth in this situation. When it comes to sessioning a booter, the more the merrier, I say

yea but if they let people keep goin off it there not gona be able to throw anything into the pow cuz itll be all skiied off..

yea i agree with you. i wouldnt want people using it after all my hard work. but after youve had a couple runs id gladly open it up to the use of just about anybody as long as you dont have to wait to use your own jump

I'd say thats the cost of building in such an accessible spot. To the snowboarders standing around for you to finish, should of hollered to them to give you a hand and earn it.

Yer exactly. The snow wasn't that deep so we got about 12 jumps each until the landing got a bit sketchy. We were more than happy for other people to use it but seeing though we spent the time to build it it's only far we get the fresh landing. Plus most of the people that wanted to use it would of landed on there backs and it would of gotten bombed out within 30 minutes.

Yeah it pisses me off too. Last week, my friends and I found this meadow on google earth at my mountai. It was perfect for a kicker and the landing was all deep pow. We worked on this jump for 2 days, making it perfect (there was only 3 of us). Then the day after we went off to hit it. When we got there, the jump was torn to shit and the landing was packed down. We later found out it was a group of snowboarders because they cant keep their mouths shut. Any way, we were pretty mad, just because of all the time we put into it.

I'd be mad if that happened to me too, 99% of the people trying to hit it would probably just go off it to go off it.

i agree with you, but like OP said, they waited above the jump for half an hour while they were still building it so they could take the spoils of someone else's work, thats fucked

ya for sure they shouldve been down to let you guys hit it a few times first since you did all the work but after hitting it a few times i think i wouldve let other ppl hit it

Whoever does that is just a lazy fuck. I mean, the point of building a jump is to get away from the crowd and to have a nice powder landing. Whats the point when you cant get either? Yeah people that do that shit are annoying. Just block the jump like you were doing.

i think it would be fine if you had been sessioning for a while and the landing was chewed up, but in this situation; no.
