Using Lightweight boots for everything?

So, my boots are dead. (Scabby old Salomon alpine boots from like 9 years ago)
I'm off to buy new boots in the sales...but I figured.
I want boots for backcountry, maybe touring. SO why buy alpine boots.
My worry is that if I went looking for something mega light along the lines of these:

or
http://http://www.garmontusa.com/111102211.html

Would they be too pussy and soft for all the day to day piste stuff?

I was thinking more along the lines of:
http://http://www.blackdiamondequipment.com/en-us/shop/ski/boots/factor-ski-boot

would be more flexible.

I guess I'm looking for suggestions as to what folks are using to cover all bases if they want one boot to rule them all.
If the superlight ski/running guys would do the job, why would I lug heavy guys about.
Open to suggestions & ridicule.

tecnica is coming out with a new boot next year that is basically what you are looking for. it is sweet for touring and also sweet if you are skiing inbounds. the boot is called the Tecnica Cochise. here is a video to show you what they look like http://vimeo.com/21503253

They look pretty sweet. Seems like a similar market to a Dynafit Titan... An alpine boot with the flexibility to walk in.

get a boot that fits well, that is the most important thing

if you will only "maybe" be doing some touring, i would just get an alpine boot, lots of people, including me, tour in alpine boots, its not that bad unless you are doing some heavy duty, long tours

This. I skin 3-4 hours in race boots because that's what fits me and no-one has a really low volume touring boot on the market yet; Tecnica will for 11/12 and Salomon 12/13 supposedly, and surely others to follow but for now alpine boots hardly hold me back, the one thing I'd really like is vibram soles for long walks out of routes and climbing over rocks. If a Titan or Radium fits you properly those are fine for everything, otherwise just get a good alpine boot.

Is there a way to subscribe to threads so I don't have to keep popping back like a dick every 30mins??
I'm liking the look of Titans...If only they were on sale anywhere. Seems alpines go on sale, anything remotely backcountry / touring... not so much!
