I dont know if this has been talked about, or its a horrible idea, but i was thinking that somehow a person could be rated due to their posts. For example, dspin7x would probably have a very low rating, where someone like lat may have a high rating. im just thinkin out loud here, i dont know if it would work

^HEnce the point of you trying to make quality posts to improve your rating, increasing forum quality!!

being a noob has nothing to do with it. you make posts, and dont try to be like atlantaski and then you would have a higher rating.

i just think it could go along with that old idea of the sarcasm meter, it could be like an html tag but with a #, again just an idea

but then the admins would have to read all of peoples posts to see if they should move up or down on status or w/e i think its a bad idea cause its way too much work for the admins

its a good idea. they could do what they do for the vids for each post so the people on ns would decide everyones rating

It may be a good idea but I don't think anyone is going to go through all the forum threads and rate all the posts, because that couldn't be automated, and if that could be done, it wouldn't work well at all, and some people would get mistook for etc.

this has been discussed a lot in the past. In the end if your on here enough you know who is a post whore and who isn't so it doesn't really matter... plus what makes you think that people will rate posts properly, it will prob just be abused anyway.

no that i think about, some people probably newer members, would just keep fuckin with it...so it wouldnt work that well

it would get abused, people would create a bunch of new accounts, make a bunch of stupid posts and then rate themselves high and since everyone else would be too lazy to rate people (i know i would be), the person would have an undeserved high rating.

when I read a thread with say, about 60 posts, I'm not going to rate every single one. It would take too much time. And of course it would get abused, and people would rate themselves high, like someone said above.

exactly.

there's already enough bitching about post counts. we don't need any other e-status symbol.

what if there was a function that allowed users to call other users out on shitty posts. for example, in the above mentioned 60 post thread, if you came across a post so henious it needed repercussions, you could click on a little link next to it, and if enough users clicked on that link, the poster would be banned for the day, or their name turned red in a scarlet letter-esque form of public humiliation. the only downfall woudl be people trying to get red names or something, but that is an idea that doesnt involve lots of individual monitoring work. I could go either way on this, i just thought of that and felt like i should toss it out there.
