He doesn’t need to be banned. He is just another troll who gets a kick out of triggering people and he’s actually successful at it.

So I am going to ask collectively that we realize that he’s not serious about what he says despite how he may try to sell it. He’s far from the only one on NSers that does it. But when y’all start fights with him and get upset by what he says you’re giving him the entertainment he wants and turning everyone against each other. We’re a community here for Christ sake. We shouldn’t be hating and flaming each other over the gear we use and the personal choices we make as skiers.

I have no problem with him at all but I’m just saying if you want his content to stop showing up on this website then simply don’t reply and move on. Just remember that trolls get what they want when you get triggered. Anyways I hope we can move on and make a better community instead of letting people corrupt us for entertainment.

Most of it is pretty good at explaining an alternate viewpoint and while I generally disagree with him, I'll admit he has changed my opinion slightly a couple of times. He's really not that heinous of a member, and I think people can actually gain something from a lot of what he says.

Okay I don’t think my point was very clear. I have no problem with him. I have just noticed that a lot of his threads turn into intense arguments through no fault of his own. Dolan dude I've definitely disagreed HARD on some shit (almost everything) but end of the day you've got your place here and especially lately I often find it entertaining. Was the same with Trvp - as ridiculous as most of his posts were he kept things going and in some cases real discussion happened in the periphery. As much as I'm an advocate for being thoughtful and nice to each other I'm a bigger advocate of being able to have discussions with and having exposure to people who are different from each other. At the very least you find a way to explain what you believe in a bit better.

Trolling and being mean has been around on NS forever, as have obscure internet subcultures that surface here and nowhere else in most of our daily lives. People are weird, NS can be weird, but it's part of it. We're all skiers and this is probably one of the last places where our feeds aren't filtered by some algorithm that studies our biases. You might have the trendiest pro filmmaker shooting the shit with a 60 year old man who grew up with a different "new" type of skiing, with some 16 year old nerd who's too timid to do any tricks but loves the idea of it and knows every edit made since 2009, with some army dude who's "seen some shit" but just wants to ski hard and isn't buying any of this fluffy fairy stuff.

It's never gonna mix perfect but we're all pretty stoked about something in common and maybe that'll stop us from killing each other over some forum posts haha

But for most ‘trolls’ it is not a well justified opinion or anything that is is really adding to an argument.

I'll give you that the context of this thread is about trolls, but my issue, and what I'm directing my posts here primarily towards, is the fact that NS has created a blocking feature. Like I can just block anyone for any reason. I could just block you, JAHBRADOR, right now because maybe I disagree with you on something. I can block out everyone I know who wouldn't agree with me on stuff and only interact with those who do. That's a far bigger issue than someone who is unable to just simply ignore a troll.

That's fair, and idk if that's the reason why they left or not. I do know that a lot of people complained about how heavily the moderating became. I became far less active for a while because of that reason. It wasn't even enjoyable to interact on here because anything remotely triggering/trolling/you name it got shut down immediately.

I do want to make a point that this is non-ski gabber, the place for "everything else" that's not ski related. This is where political/cultural/social issues are discussed. So I'd sway towards more freedom, both to express yourself and the freedom to allow yourself to be offended, being allowed here.

NS can do what it wants, it's a private company, and if someone needs to block someone else to maintain their precious feelings then go for it, but know the dangers that come with it.
