If you are pushing it, make sure a friend is watching, in case you get hurt. Or if your friend is pushing it, make sure to keep an eye on them.

A friend launched the fingers at Squaw on Friday and wound up burried in the deep pow in the landing. He suffocated to death while people looked on and tried to get to him. Fortunately, ski patrol was able to revive him when they finally got to him. But it was nearly fatal and that can be prevented with quick response from a friend. Some ski deaths that I know of could have been prevented if a buddy was close by with an eye on the action. Hopefully this post helps save someone.

good thoughts

at least he had pow.

In maine we have grass right now

yeah really good, people who dont live near powder should def read this because it seems those are the one who get hurt, because of there lack of knowledge of powder and powder saftey

Good point, same goes pretty much anywhere on the mountain. Like when you are in the park the worst is to hit a jump and find out someone is in the landing with their shit scattered all over the place or that person is you and someone hits the jump and almost lands on you.

yea dude i was there for that, toatally insane. I heard that his heart stopped as well. I thought I saw a patroller going up KT22 with a defibulator to restart this guys heart, but i could be wrong. It was crazy, so many people hucking huge there. The line that guy took was insane. If your loking at the fingers, its like the biggest cliff there all thew way to the right. he straigthlined leading up to it for a long time too and got so much speed before hitting it. Please, even if it is 6 feet of fresh pow, be careful. killing yourself is probably not a good idea

if you see someone look like the fell, wait till you ski away from below. spotters are a really good idea, to check out landings, make sure jumps are clear, and in general make things much safer in the park. use them, for your saftey adn others

Don't get killed by stupid things like dying.

I saw another guy almost kill himself on the Fingers yesterday (Sunday). Guy dropped a line right underneath the chair and launched about 30ft. straight to rock and almost face planted onto another rock. I saw him later on near the bottom of the lift and he looked like a scared like a ghost.

some dude died here last year in the trees on a big pow day. feel over into a tree well and suffocated

I'm not trying to be mean, but skiing with out a partner on powder days, of when doing some thing with considerable risk just seems to be a lack of common sense.

^^that happened at bridger last yr

That's not mean, but the temptation still exists... If you can't find anyone to go with you on a powder day, you go by yourself. Since it's epic, you want to throw down....

That's when your intelligence needs to overrule your urges, or subject yourself and your loved ones to the consequences.

someone died last week at sunday river maine, only the cause was the complete opposite, we're still stuck with ice and grass... he slid into a tree, which was clearly a lack of ability in those conditions but damn it needs to snow

yeah, at bridger a guy dropped a cliff in avalanche gulch and suffocated to death, he wasn't found until 3 days later.

well thats pretty tough because my hand is a lot sexier than many females-NewSkool450

Thanks for bringing that to my attention, Dynarider. But that's what happened. He was dead and he got revived. In his own words,

'I was dead ten minutes ago, now I'm going to get a pizza.'

Stop dicking around with technicalities.
