Is it really worth 80 bucks to join and get in there comps or should I stick with comps like the Midwest open or rail jams put on by local hills?

yeah its kinda expensive but it's fun to have a park lane to yourself (for the most part) for the day without any gapers in the landings. its also good for getting experience and just meeting new people.

i did it a few years ago and its kind of a rip off, cuz they charge you for anything, if you are a member though the highly favor you in the comps, its really sad cause some of our locals that would ride in their comps would kill everybody and get no better than 3rd

yeah i mean like u still have to join the organization but if your on the actually "team" that have like the coaches and all that bullshit your highly favored in comps, at least thats the way it was when i did it like 3 years ago

I've been considering this too...I snowboard and really want to compete, but I feel like everyone in USASA in MN at least is on G team, so I'd kind of be the odd one out

sense you ride sunburst the local usasa is run by the midwest best team. you dont have to be on teh team to do the comps you just need to have a usasa membership. last year i thought the judging was done well, and itll prob be the same this year. i also hear that their going to be putting on rail jams this year too.

yeah exactly like i said though i did it a couple of years ago and i had some friends that killed it in the comp in slopestyl and only one got third who easily had the best run

I would NOT do it....from my experience it's a dumb series. USASA stands for United States Snowboard Association so it's not really meant for skiers in the first place. I did it at Tyrol 3 or 4 years ago and it's really expensive. You have to pay for the membership (every year), and then also have to pay to enter every competition. Even if you get 1st place you don't even make the money back from entering the competition (ie: $25 entrance fee, top prize $15). Sometimes we won old spring jam shirts or stickers or something too.

I did have fun doing it, because I like competing, but I wouldn't advise doing it just because it's expensive and you don't really get anything out of it.
