Usain Bolt honors the Star Spangled Banner

I can see where you are coming from, but its his way of life, free spirit, not giving a fuck. Dude is boss an has soo much pressure on him. You cannot go to Jamaica without hearing about the worlds fastest man alive.

really like him. even like his attitude. its a fucking individual sport. if you know you can run a sub 9.7 in the final, you know you will probably win.

get your nerves together and do it. i like it. a german sports psychologist said that he is the only person in sports history besides muhammad ali to dominate his sport and predict his success equally well.

and without tarnishing his image and shit, but i am pretty sure that some kind of doping is involved in his wins. no offense, really, i am pretty sure that the other 7 in the final are pumped up too. i have no problem with it though. he would probably dominate a sober field with equal ease. its just like with armstrong, you cannot DOMINATE a doped competition that easily without doping yourself. he earns a shitload of money, the drug testers dont, go figure that one yourself. and just like with armstrong, the track&field association probably have to cover it up. he is the biggest track&field star ever, and a positive test result made public would probably kill the sport.

again, i like him and how he makes everything entertaining.

I know. He's like god to Jamaicans. He's talked about a lot, he's on every billboard. His face is everywhere. Saw it when I was there.

Also, yeah I respect the hell out of him for his talent and all that stuff, but I just can't be okay with "I'm the best ever and nothing will ever change that"

This and the one runner who wore the paraplegic runners bib. They are real classy athletes who I respect

That's what the olympics is all about.

Saw this too. He's plastered all over the airport and cities I visited. That's gotta inflate the ego a bit, but he seems to back up the claims with results.

Love what Bolt did. Shows some class and respect.

As for that website you sent us to, holy shit...

he's the fastest human out of the 110 billion that have ever existed. #1 out 110,000,000,000 in an activity that every able bodied person in history has participated in. any modesty about that feat would be totally fake no matter who it was.

How do you know there wasn't some dude hundreds of years ago who was faster that him? He's still a boss but that seems like a rediculous statement.

This. Just because a person is good at an activity doesn't mean said person doesn't feel the same emotions the rest of us feel. They are all human, there is nothing else that is special about them, besides the fact they are good at some activity

bc I understand the basics of nutrition and improvements in training and equipment, yes my statement is absolute but to question it is whats actually ridiculous.

I hate how usa thinks everything is about them

He stopped because it was A national anthem being played , it was in honor of his fellow athlete up there on the podium not because it was the "star spangled banner's" anthem

It was in respect of the olympic spirit and not for usa /rant

This is dumb. We don't think everything is about us but. we just thought it was extra cool because it just so happened to be the Star Spangled Banner.

Could be because it was the USA's anthem... He specifically called out his fans in the USA for their support after he won the 200m, clearly he is a fan of America, Fuck Yeah.

You know this how? Were you there? Did you talk to him? No, you're making assumptions, just like everyone you are ripping on above you.

Can't see the video at work. But I never said anything about praising or loving the athletes for doing that. Just simply said he was making assumptions on why Bolt did what he did just like everybody else in this thread.

right, but from my limited impression, its pretty common for athletes (and all people in the stadium) to honor the anthem. i agree with the other guy in the regard that this had little to do with the anthem being the american one and that americans blow it up beyond proportion

Ya I just didn't get why you quoted me and said that, seeing as I said nothing about it being just for the american national anthem.

To be honest, I think it's awesome that the olypics can bring everyone together and show mutual respect for other countries like this no matter what country or national anthem it is. I am also willing to bet a lot more athletes do the same thing too. It's just that Bolt is really the only one that got publicity for it and no one here can really help that.

Lol, why would you hate on that? As of right now, he's unquestionably the best there ever was, and nothing will ever change his unheard of back to back wins in multiple races.

How that makes someone a cocky asshole I have no idea. He understands the gravity of his accomplishments and deserves to be able to say it out loud. I think he earned it, and the guy has pretty much oozed class and respect for his competitors, which is more than I can say for many athletes, let alone the top man.

So yeah, until someone beats that, he's the best ever and nobody can change his place in history for sure. Step back from the haterade, it's not him being a dick it's the truth. If you were hands down the best EVER at something, you'd say it too, and it would be fine to say so imo.
