US Senate declares the entire USA to be a ”battleground”

I wouldn't say ANY other country... but most countries yes, I am so ready to get out of here now.

Well I mean Wouldn't this really only be for anti terrorism? are they allowed to just kill anyone? I hardly think this will pass the house and president, but 93-7 is a scary ratio. Besides, has this been looked at by the supreme court? Idk the process of who sees it and when. But it hardly seems constitutonal

This bill is not constitutional what so ever, i'm fairly certain, that in the constitution it states, that the citizens are not subject to holding military personnel in their household without pay in times of peace within the country. Also, this would be terrible, there honestly probably only doing this to stop the occupy protests, because thats where the senators and all those other fuckheads in d.c. get there money, from the big corporations. our country is slow but surely turning into a more developed egypt....

Why do you care so much? They aren't gonna assassinate some random person.. They're trying to kill fucking terrorists and shit.. Which they're doing a damn well job of it. USA FTW.

Derp the rest of the world is fucked derp.

Look at the camera systems in parts of the uk. Also they had free speech zones before we did.

Everything's shitting the bed. With the level of ignorance in the voters of our county I'd say we're fucked. It amazes me how a little bit of propaganda can sway a whole population.

i honestly don't think this is real. how could it be?

this should be all over the news.

and it didn't say anything about going through the House of Representatives first. or going to Obama's desk at all.

Main stream media doesn't want you to see things that you might disagree with. They are a massive brainwashing machine. So if you didn't hear about it in the news, it must not be happening, right?

Did you ever read the patriot act or violent radicalization and homegrown terrorism prevention act.

The legislation getting pushed these days is whack. As long as you tell people it's to protect you from some scary brown man in the middle east everyone's cool with it. People are dumb. And lol at the thought of the mainstream news stations really reporting good facts.

Hahahaahahahaha "date: 2december 2011"

riiiight

and this has only gone through the senate, not in law yet.

Did any of you read the bill? I am assuming none of you bothered

to and just blindly went on following the poster above you. The bill in

question in two complete sections p. 428 sec. 11 and 430 sec. 10 clearly states

that such provisions do not apply to US Citizens, Legal Aliens, or Foreign

citizens in good standing. In fact, what powers shall be granted have not even

been decided and won’t be until 60 days after the bills implementation. All the

bill says is that at a future point in time different powers will be granted to

US govt. agencies in regards to anti terrorism policy. Which is unlikely to

happen due to strong rhetoric on behalf of the president that he will veto said

bill, due to it not taking into account cuts to be made in the wake of the

super committee failure.

The next time you read about a scary bill about to be passed

actually find the bill and read the thing. That makes you an educated citizen

and less of a sheep.

reminds me of that movie with George Clooney and Bruce Willis where the military is allowed to enter New York City because of impending terrorist attacks. They are allowed to arrest anyone of suspicion.

As a US citizen you are *supposed* to have a right to due process. That's why people care so much.

You guys are just too young, not in a condescending way.

This is not the first time the government has abused their power, it is a constant struggle

1798 - The Alien and Sedition Acts: made it a crime to publish "false, scandalous, and malicious writing" against the government or certain officials

1861 - Habeas Corpus suspended

1871 - Civil Rights Act suspends Habeas Corpus again in certain circumstances

1917 - Espionage Act: made illegal many kinds of government and military criticism, as well as any attempt to convince someone not to join the armed forces

talk to any Japanese American about rights in 1942 see what they tell you about rights - george carlin

No americans would ever know this but in October of 1970 Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau enacted the war measures act in Canada which gave right to arrest anyone under suspicion of being involved with issues and bombings that were happening all over Quebec. Hundreds of innocent people were arrested without reason. So it's not like that situation could never happen again especially in a country like the USA.

+k sir, almost just had a legit panic attack, still this bill is shit, and i don't think it will pass. still fucking scared though.

Never posted here before, only place to find good edits. Saw

this thread felt compelled to comment. A lot of individuals fail to do any actual

research on legislation that will directly affect their lives. Taking the

second hand opinion of a random individual is never a good idea in my opinion.

The purpose of my post was simply to assuage the hectic manner in which

individuals were jumping to the conclusion that the bill of rights had

evaporated.

This bill is in fact not what it is quoted to be. There are

no provisions within it to start targeted strikes within the US to kill or

arrest US citizens. There is no retraction of the posse comitatus act of 1878 which still maintains that it is illegal

for the US military to operate on US soil or against US citizens in a law

enforcement measure. There is no mention of a change in US policy when dealing

with individuals suspected of terrorist intentions. There is nothing in this

bill that in any way changes the status quo except to state that it provides

measures to change existing anti –terrorism policy no less than 60 days after

ratification. Does this mean that different measures may be passed after this

bill is ratified? Sure, after 60 days new bills may be implemented to define

that change. However, this bill does nothing of the sort, which is quite

contrary to what the headlines state. However, what this bill does state, is

that regardless of those changes protections remain in place for US citizens,

Legalized citizens, and Foreign nationals.

Woozy I think you took my comments out of context as I was

in no way attempting to convince you to desert your paranoia. There are certainly measures that exist or will exist that will

attempt to affect the freedoms US citizens enjoy. However, this bill is not one

of them.

I know. I have officially made it onto the FBI watch list.
