Is Copper going to host the US Open again this year? Having attended the last few years both when it was at Vail and at Copper, I fellt that it wasn't run very well at Copper the last couple of years. Any thoughts?
I believe its at copper again, they have to have a few years in the contract. Copper does blow at doing it, their ski patrol sucks, the jumps are small and the rails always blow.
It's too bad. I always felt that this was one of the premier events of the year for freeskiers. This event draws arguably the best competitors from around the world. In watching the event the last couple of years at copper, I would agree with you that the run that was set up did not reflect the stature of this event. I am a fan who loves watching and have a great deal of respect for the guys who throw down some outrageous tricks. Wondering where competitors would like to see this event held. I have heard that Breck might be the place.
The Open will indeed be at Copper again, but they've moved the dates back to the weekend of Feb 27 to March 1. I believe the goal is to completely re-work the slopestyle venue/course and take advantage of the extra light and snow that having the event later in the year will provide.
i'd like to see the us open have a similar set up as when they hosted the YGO all those years ago. but of course there needs to be the flat-gap-down box like last year.
