Say, is anybody else heading out to this?

Mike_Hunt, ductapeboy and I are all going to compete in halfpipe/slopestyle.

Just wondering how much of a newschoolers representation there will be.

my dad is hooking doug, dave and i up with the plane tickets out there......and my sponsor, Whittier Canada, is paying the entry fees for the competition...doug and dave are paying from their pocket for the competition - it's only like $300 and some odd $$$ CND to enter.

ya, i'm only 17, so while all those 'of age' people (screw you dave and doug) go to the bars we can just hang out, watch ski videos and get drunk.

Yeah, well we're both 22, so I'm sure we'll be alright.

Big trick? Well, since It's slopestyle/halfpipe, I'm going to be trying to link together a series of slow, smooth tricks that will be asthetically pleasing and use the terrain in a creative way.

And go REALLY big in the pipe.

I'm more there for the halfpipe. I'm just entering the slopestyle for the experience.

Ya I'm going last year I went even though the no invert rule for qualifying sucks dick. I'm just going for slopestyle because my sister's getting married on the day of the big air finals, thanks sis.

 
you know what's funny? I was going to throw a switch corked 720 mute or reverse tail or something, off the bottom kicker too.... i'm just guessing that that's going to be the trick next year (well, that and a switch d-spin, but now way i'll get a switch d-spin by the end of january). But, like, it's slopestyle, so it's not just what you do off the bottom kicker, it's your whole run. I'm really going to try and work the technical side (switch unnatural spins, unnatural spins, switch spins), and do some cool stuff on the rails........and i'm going to try and never hop switch or forwards throughout the whole run - like......if i land switch, i'd stay switch till the next jump and bust a switch trick...or vise versa is i was to land forwards. i got some more ideas that I got in my head, but I gotta see the course and how it's set up...

I'm there for sure. BEWARE-I don't know if it was just last year but the rails sucked and were slow. I got a fake so I can go to get faded off a couple Long Islands, shibb.

Being 20 makes me realize how fucking gay the ages 18-20 are. If your at a party, you can get a MIP and Contributing. What the hell is up w/ that?

I could go over to the middle east and cap raggies, but can't leagally drink a beer. LAME!!!!

 
yea i heard a few people are gonna throw a switch cork 7 for their last trick, but what sets me apart is that i alreay learned them so i can work on the style on em and i am gonna do it in a 1 peice neon green speed suit that will let the judges remember me

corks and flatspins are aloud as long as ur feet don't go above your head but don't go to close to inverted casue someetimes they are dicks but corks are ok basicly they don't look at you to advance unless you do some huge tricks and have mad style like if you do 3s and 5s and just slide the rails u have no chance but if you are doin switch corks and goin fakie in and switch ups on the rails then u should have an ok chance

 
ya, my corkes are like, boarderline d-spins. so looks like i just gotta do slightly off-axis switch unnatural spins to give me some high scores.

How do they judge it?

'cause the judges can't see the whole run from the bottom, right?

how do they know if you are gonna be doing unnatural? you could just say that your regular way is your unnatural way, and then you would really rack up the points. unnatural 1260 hehe

 
There are two judging stands/towers -- one to see the top-half, the other to see the bottom half. As for unnatural tricks, this is something that should be addressed. Unless the judge knows you, then how are you rewarded?!?

I wont be alloed to drink in bars, I,ll wait with Darryl and drink LOTS of beer instead...

If I make it to the big air, I,ll throw a spread eagle, and i,m serious about it.

When you want to throw an unnatural trick you show it before you hit the jumps... normally, you would have to throw the trick natural side before doing it unnatural so the judge will know it is unnatural.

The judging will be on both terchincal difficulty and 'style'.

ya, so like if i go and throw a switch 540 counter-clockwise than a switch 360 clockwise....than they'd pick one and make it my unnatural - probably the 360....

BUT what if you throw like 2 tricks counter...and 2 clockwise.than how will they know?

they wont care if it is in a slopestyle, you'll get technicals difficulties point for the combo.

just cuz vinnie did a switch cork everyone´s gonna do a switch cork. why don´t you try something else, sumething new instead.

if i was a good jibber and was gonna go to the open i wouldn´t have thought when tanner did his switch rodeo and won every comp, wow i gotta learn that. i would have thought, hmm what trick havent we seen switch, ahh mistys, d-spins, gonna practice on that. so what haven´t we seen switch now? well a big, big switch flatspin with grab would stand out.

or try something like a switch frontmute to 360, switch rodeo screamin seaman ( or maybe a barani would look the best with that, switch barani 5 screamin, funky!), switch 7 tail to mute( and tweak it up to your neck!!!!, double grabs are rarely seen, it can be done smooth look at julien rl in the game and 13...

sorry if im whinin but as said before what makes the pros stand out is their STYLE and inventiveness.

do you have to do rails in slopestyle?. do you have to jump every jump or do you just choose your own line through the park?

because we are trying to predict the future. Last year Tanner Hall won everything with his switch rodeo 720, and this summer Vinnie just learned switch corked 720 mute grabs, noone has won a competition with it (at least in North American anyways) yet....so we think that this is going to be the trick of this year....so why not be the person to win with it?

some one should do that crazy trick at the end of High society, its like a venus fly trap but of the big air jump. that would impress some people, well at least me

 
yeah well the guy who did it is one of the schrabs and he did it last year and it probably impressed the crowd but it didn´t impress the judges as much!!!!!

Dude, this year, i,m sure we will rarely see someone winning comps with more the 900 degree rotations, we are going to see Huge air with smooth technical tricks with grabs and double grabs... like a flat spin 540 mute grab to lui kan.
