US Open moves to copper

correct me if i am wrong, i have never been to the vail/beaver creek area, but is there even a middle class there. My bro was there are few months ago and he said that either you live in a mansion in vail, or a trailer in avon. For skiing at vail You have to commute from denver/boulder/whatever, you are mega rich and live there a few weeks a year, or you live by vail and are employed to service the rich bastards. Is the vibe at copper similar to this?

Well, the past three years all I've heard from riders of the open was how fucking wack the course has been/is getting. Broken jibs, unorganized, not well set up....I think a change is great for the comp. It was only a matter of time.

Now, is Copper the best place for it? I don't personally think so, but only positive stuff can come from it....well more positive than negative, Vail was not helping.

Now, Breck, in my eyes, would have been the place to have it. Major shit.

they should move it somewhere completely different liek out east or something... give some boys who dont travel much an oppurtunity

after last year where the set up sucked and the top section rails didn't even count I'm happy there is a change. last year it was 3 jumps. Hopefully there is some creativity in the course this year

holey.... fucking.... shit.... i'm living in leadville and working/skiing at copper the whole month of january!! thank you jesus, thank you tom cruise!

yeah it's wierd that what's supposed to be the best park in the north emisphere only has the orage masters... There should be more comps in Mammoth

That's a downgrade in my opinion. Their park isn't that great, nice jibs, decent jumps, crap pipe. Breck or Mammoth would've been a way better choice for sure. Breck needs a bigger skier comp but I guess Copper needs it more. But maybe they'll give me some extra work during the comps, that'll be cool.

vail is terrible...the course was something that id expect in some shitty comp. i bet copper will be better than vail but you can get better than that. mammoth, breck are good choices

ya but breck already has comps and is really windy all the time because they have tree coverage around there park, but mamoth would make it soooooo sick!!! but w/e anything is better than vail

yea, i tried to get into the open last year, but my computer was too slow, and it was full. i went to the Aspen Open instead, at buttermilk, which was so sick. 2 weeks after the X games, same course. run smoothely. it was a sick comp. deffinatly going back if they have it.

GAD they should seriously have moved to Park City!!! We dont have shit in the way of am/pro comps. We have king of the Wasatch and thats it...

i think they should move it every year so it has different people in it and kids can get there name out there if they win

Here are some pictures from the 05 Graivty Games at Copper Mountain. If Planet snow design builds the park its guarnetted to be sick. Enjoy

^^Yeah I remember those jibs! They looked way better than last years US Open jibs in Vail, I'm thinking Cooper will do great!

Have you ever seen the snowboarding Honda session? 4 80' jumps in a row to the craziest rail setup ever. Its that rail setup you always see where they slide up, jib something at the top, and then have rail options on the way back down. Sickest setup ever.

It is at vail, and its the week before the US Open.

I ask you this... how come snowboarding has the sickest contest ever, and in ONE WEEK they use the same rails to build the shittiest ski course ever?

Its the event builders fault, not the mountain.

They have claimed "We're asking the athletes about every feature" which is fine, but a shitty park builder is a shitty park builder. Doesn't matter who gives input.

See this picture? Yes it is EXACTLY the same rails as was in the open course. This is literally one week before the open.

4 big ass jumps in a row into that setup. Sickest shit ever right?

At EXACTLY the same place at Vail. Hell they have to knock that course down when they are building the USOpen slopestyle. What do they do with that bottom setup? Take the rails out of it and build grandstands.

Make sure to focus your hate in the correct direction.

That is what skiing did with the same course above.

Salomon is the major sponsor of the honda session... salomon is a major sponsor of the US Open.

Vail is the mountain at the honda session... Vail is the mountain at the US Open.

What's the difference? Skiing magazine!!

You can see how this was probably a really nice jump before it was knocked down to build a crappy rail setup.

Like look at the takeoff to the flat-down... WTF is that?

Sorry I keep posting... I got really angry.

haha that totally was a jump... thats just lazyness right there. the had enough snow to at least shape a proper deck for those things. maybe stagger them or build the deck at different levels, chop it down the middle, make some transfer options.. do something!

the other difference is Planet Snow Design builds the park for the Honda Sessions every year. Then when its done some dick weed from the open comes in and tells Vails Park cat groomers what they want for the open.
