US drug czar against legalization

As we know Colorado and Washington passed laws allowing the legalization of marijuana. "Despite those laws passing and reflecting the overwhelming voice of voters, Kerlikowske (us drug czar) says the White House will rely on a longstanding federal statute that puts pot in the same category as heroin, cocaine and other Schedule I narcotics."

Kerlikowske continued:

"Neither a state nor the executive branch can nullify a statute passed by Congress . . . Nor should we lose sight of the fundamental fact that using marijuana has public health consequences, and the most responsible public policy is one that restricts its availability and discourages its use."





I think that legalization is going to be attacked like medical marijuana from the sounds of it. What do you guys think?

 
^ this and it's a public health threat?? What how when where why??!? It's the most medicinal/multi use plant in the world.

yeah and if weed was legal there would be more selective breeding, which would make weed better, and maybe healthier(taking out the nicotine)
 
I wasn't even that surprised. I just wonder how they will react when legal marijuana is implemented. The states want make money off of it and washington is banking on weed to rake in hundreds millions. The fact is that may not even happen. They are so stupid for balancing their budget on something that is federally illegal and taxed so high. Not my problem though. And I bet that just makes it look worse to the DEA.

The real question is should we make Mc Donalds illegal? How about all fast food restaurants. Obesity is a major health risk and it has been statistically proven that fast foods negatively impact a persons health signifacantly. 37.5% of people are obese in the US.Thats an example of a health problem, only 1% of the us population smokes daily. We don't need the government to tell us what we should and shouldn't do when it effects no one else, adults should be able to take care of them selves. Especially when there are far more harmful drugs in the legal and pharmaceutical markets. Regan hated hippies so he hated marijuana and has created a trillion dollar drug war that we have long lost. In 2009 cost the tax payers 51 billion dollars. $165 for ever damn person in the us. That is counting children, parents babies, everyone. most of which spent trying to eradicate cannabis.Where has that goten us? Medicinal marijuana is legal in 18 states, and 2 states legalized for recrational uses.

The scheduling of drugs was definitely meant to fight off the hippies back in Regans day.

All schedule 1 drugs (MOST ADDICTIVE)

lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD), marijuana (cannabis), 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (ecstasy), methaqualone, and peyote

schedule 2 drugs

The have cocane and methamphetamine as less addictive than marijuana.

Schedule 4 drugs are suposed to have a low potential of abuse.

First drug listed xanax, and that drug is so damn addictive.

Clearly the DEA works for pharmaceutical companies. "the DEA admits that 55 pharmaceutical companies now hold licenses in the United States to grow cannabis. " It is so clear who they work for fuck the DEA hypocrite pussy bitches. Its all about the money, its fucked how much power big corperations have. They let companies grow weed for medicinal purposes yet lock citizens up for years even up to life for doing the same exact thing.

 
Wierd... I see plenty people claiming that it does/ doesn't, but I can't find a study that shows either way. I wonder where this started?
 
True and I don't think we should be made illegal. But I learned yesterday that smoking marijuana over a long period of time can cause lung cancer, Before a bunch of you get all pissy and argue with me. turns out when you inhale any smoke, whether it's from a cigarette or from standing over a fire that's burning wood. You burn the microvilli in your lungs, and if you burn it for long enough eventually your body stops making the hairs and then Covers your lungs with this hard skin That can become cancerous.
 
It's a complete waste of money fighting a war against marijuana. Did you know even alcohol can cause cancer multiple types of cancer? There are many things in this world that are dangerous, the government should tell me how I should live my lifestyle. Obviously there are drug like meth that are no good and should stay ilegal. People need to be getting correct information not propaganda ridden crap. Propaganda leads to people say "marijuana heals everything." Then the government tells people that marijuana is more addicting than meth.

Saying why you think weed should be legal on an Internet forum full of other people who think weed should be legal doesn't accomplish anything.

Im just venting because of how stupid and clear it is the dea favors pharmaceutical companies. Money runs the government man.

I don't give a fuck what you do but I'm so sick of stoner saying that it doesn't cause lung cancer. Sure you can eat edibles for the rest of your life and not smoke it and it won't cause lung cancer, Let's be honest no one is going to do that.
 
I have a feeling if cigarrete companies mass produced weed joings like the marlboro greens....they would have some sort of way of making them somewhat addicting. Just fits in with the way their business operates. Also there is no shot the weed would be even close to as good as some of the weed you can get today. It would be mas sproduced and the quality would be brought down to bring up proftis
