US Airways officially sucks ass

So i was leaving to go back home from the beach in North Carolina to Pittsburgh and my flight was at 2. So i got on the plane and realize its hot as shit in here(its 98 outside) and hear that the AC on the plane is broken. I think to myself oh well no big deal the flight from the beach to Charlotte NC is only about 40 mins. Then it gets worse, a storm is rolling in which delays our flight for what was supposed to be 20 min. After the 20 min is up the captain comes on saying we had to wait atleast another 30 more min. At this point it is soooo hot in the plane no one can take it anymore. All of the people on board wanted to get off the plane and wait in the airport because how hot it was actually created a health hazard. after the 30 min we finally took off. What i thought was going to be a 40 min flight turned into a 1 hour 30 min flight because the ass hole captain took a detour to get to charlotte because of turbulence. THEN when we finally land in charlotte and practically have a heat stroke we have to taxi for 20 min to get to a different gate. sorry for the rant it was just so irritating.
Next time South West FTW!

what an asshole that captain was, going around turbulence to prevent passenger discomfort, possible damage to the plane, and an increased risk of a crash.

but the rest can most likely be blamed on the tower and airport security. If you were already pulled back from the gate, it was the tower that wouldn't let you go back, and even if you were at the gate, they wouldn't let you off for a 30 min delay. It would take probably 20 minutes to unload anyways. And they risk someone not returning to the plane, which means they'd have to go through and remove their luggage etc.

(thats not a convenience for the passenger, but security so that if by some chance, there is a bomb in the luggage, someone can't just ditch the bomb on the aircraft and drive home)

i really dont think since 9/11 anything like that could ever happen. So if its true find me an article

hasn't happened since 9/11 of course, but look up pan am 103. Happened in '88 i think.

and thats exactly the attitude people shouldn't have. People used to say "no one will ever hijack a plane." Then it became "no one will ever hijack a plane and use it as a weapon." Then 9/11 occurred. The history of aviation is full of people saying something could never happen...then having it happen.

You got to be a dumbass, ofcourse their going to go round turbelance and wait for a storm to pass on the ground, you want to die flying through storms, go ahead and by your own plane, dont kill the other 200 people with you. That pilots trained to do whats right, so are the airport staff who caused your delay, they know whats safe and what is not, and obviously your situation was unsafe. I mean ive had bad experances with planes, long delays with no ac, cokroaches in my chair and sewage tanks leaking so the whole thing stinks of piss, but common, its a whole lot better than driving.

in summer weather, no plane should be allowed out of the gate unless a/c works. seriously. complaints will be written and many customers will be lost over little things like that.

that happened to me once but I was in florida flying back to pittsburgh the air conditioning was broken on the plane we sat on a hot ass plane for 2 hours then we were able to wait in to airport while they fixed it

Why? Planes have only had ac for the last 10 years or so, before then they had to sit in the heat, why cant we? Plus, they wernt expecting a delay, oce you take off your quickly up high into the minus tempratures, their really isnt much of a need.

After that each airline needs to stop loosing bags, then fly in the thickest of fog to prevent delays. The reality is, it costs them more time and money to take the time to delay the flight and fix the AC. It's just not a realistic idea in most cases. No airline is flawless, it should be expected, no matter what airline you fly with, there is no guarantee the flight(s) will go as planned.

There are worse places to be stuck then Charlotte but I feel your pain from all my trips back and forth to Amsterdam. Never travel through Memphis you will always be delayed.

i know they didnt know the storm would cause a delay, and i know that the pilot did the right thing in taking the longer flight to avoid horrible turbulence... but, when something like a/c doesnt work, and its actually causing a possible health issue, things need to be done.

people on a plane with no a/c and an unexpected delay are going to already have issues. then the pilot takes the longer route... people couldve been trying to connect flights.

i know i wouldnt want to fly with the same airline unless the tickets are $200+ cheaper than others for a similar flight.

In Charlotte it does. God you should see what happens if it actually manages to snow here, the whole city shuts down and the majority of the population have wrecked their cars.

I got a story like that but it is with United

A some years ago I was flying home from CO (I live on the east coast), and it became the worst return trip. I was just slightly above the age of unaccompanied minor, so they stewardess doesn't give you special treatment, but you are still flying alone. The plane arrives in Dulles, my connector hub, late. I didn't knows this at the time. I went to my gate and waited. After about half an hour I finally asked "when will we be boarding?" The man replies "that plane left an hour ago." I became worried, but the man said "I don't know if there is another flight, you might have to stay here for a night" For those that have never been to Dulles it is like a cave, Dimly lit, small, narrow, and depressing. Luckily another flight arrived, but there weren't any seats open on the plane. After some yelling, they let me on the flight, but I got the seat right in front of the bathrooms, so it smelled like shit the entire flight. /rant

I hate United and Dulles airport

I got stuck in an airport for 14 hours trying to come home from NC and go back to NJ, they pretty much kicked us off the plane so another flight could use our plane. Then there was an electrical storm and the power was going on and off.

Also, I'm surprised nobody mentioned that some idiot walked into Newark with a fake bomb and they evacuated the whole airport today.
