Urbin At The U??

So has anyone ever attempted to do an Urb on the University of Minnesota campus? There are some rails with a lot of potential here and me and a couple of friends want to do them. I know security will probably be a bitch since I live here but I'm wondering if anyone has any first hand experience or knows any rails near campus in a less traveled spot.

So far I found a sweet down rail smack in the middle of the super block, so chances are we could get maybe 2 hits if we set up fast as hell, and I have heard of another one that sounds like its a little more of the beaten path so it could be a better bet...Apparently some snowboarders already tried did it once too.

that 20-something stair at centennial hall? do it up, that thing's sick. the landing is kind of weird; make sure there is plenty of snow on it or you'll fuck up your skis and/or your face.

security on campus is kind of hit or miss; your best bet is to be as low-key as you can (i.e. least amount of people/equipment as possible), and to not hang around in one spot for too long. anyone who skates there knows what i'm talking about.

Cool, I'll have to go look for those ones.

Mark~Yea I'm talking about that one by Cenntennial, I'm thinkin you're probably right on about the security thing, we were thinking about trying to bring in our drop-in ramp since it's so flat there, but that would probably just make it a little more obvious so we'll see.

yeah that down rail is sketch, cement all on the one side, but it is definately do-able, you could easily do it first try, and then get out of there

yeah, but at least the right side of it, non-stair side, is at a slope, and it's brick=slippery. Theres a couple of picnic tables in the area above it; bring a piece of wood for a ramp and set it against one or two of those. weekend mornings would be my best suggestion to do it. i almost topsouled it once but got owned on the landing, ie hole in hand. yum.

yeah theres snow on the brick side(i believe from what i saw last weekend) of the centeniel rail, thats funny cuz i was just walking by it and i was thinking if anyone has done it, and everyone in the cafeteria will be able to see you if you do it.

best camera angle- inside the cafeteria, looking out. super easy to get people inside eating, then the entire rail, or just the bottom/landing.

if you guys ever see a white truck driving around at the U with oakley stickers on it, and a drop in and massive amounts of skis and lights and a generator in the back end that would be me, my gf lives in frontier hall, so give me a holler and we can hit up urban

yea theres a big quad kink up university about a mile past the campus, narrow stairs and has brush/trees on either side so its not easy, its where i tore my acl last yr

POPE! Where have you been? You never come to Hyland anymore and you live in the cities! I better see you on Sunday (aka Hyland's last day of the year). I'll let you use my comp pass if you don't have one already. Call me.

yea pope has been out a bunch these past two weeks its been great seeing him back on hte sticks fo sho!

you know washburn high school? behind it there are two rails, on after the other, i think it might be possible to have enough speed to get from the first to the second rail.

2-3 blocks from arbys, or 2-3 blocks from the main part of the university? where are they exactley because ive looked around there and couldnt find them.

i've got one i really wanna do on campus. its a dfd but barely. super mellow single barrel. pretty long. would be way sick but im home for the weekend. maybe next weekend

who all goes to UofM twin cities? i don't know any freeskiers from there. i'm simon and i go there and it would be cool to meet some of you guys/do an urban

I don't go to the U of MN but I go to Hamline University which is really close to the U of MN saint paul campus. I'd really like to do an urban sometime soon!

im down with some igloos on swiss miss. we can make some love on that shit. dont tell ronson though. hahahahahhaa. or you could come and hit some urb with us. (me,keith, kjlell, and regneir) later bro.

I don't go to the U of M but iI go to UW river falls which is about 30 minutes away, but anyways, those double kinks are back in the ghetto, they are not very big but fun...

if you look behind university commons thats where they are, behind the train tracks

well if they are behind university commons, then i think were talking about different rails. i found 2 by the lookout tower thing. its just up university ave going towards st. paul.

Wait wait, are there actually some behind University Commons? Because that's where I'm living this year and I have been looking for some good ones, would be funny if there were some right behind me. But I'm paying 652 a month....so I don't think this is the "low-income" place you were looking for....

Thing I wanna do down here is go do some drops out of the Oak Street Ramp onto that big snow pile. Thing's already over a story tall just from Saturday's snowfall.

And anyone who ever walks on the Westbank, you know that huge down ledge right next to Anderson? All my friends and I have always thought that would be a pretty cool one.....except for the fact you would have to come at it at like a 45 degree angle because of the fence in the way.....and then inevitably fall off the other side down at least 20 feet to cement..... So yea if it weren't for the fence...

if you want to do the parking ramp drops, you have to do them right after a storm because they take the snow away pretty quickly.

The ledge by anderson looks pretty gritty to me.

The ramps are best right away because they're softer too. We're supposed to get 3-5" tomorrow, hit that shit up.

I've wanted to royale ledge for the longest time. It seems too mellow to work well on skis.

There is 1 rail behind UC. Go to the road behind it and then walk towards 94. It's on the east side of the road.

My girl friend lives in university commons, and if you look behind there there are train tracks, and then behind that inbetween commons and the witch tower is where the rails are at
