Urban Skiing Illegal?

Is it illeagl? Do there have to be spefic signs like those of "No Skateboarding"? I want to do some urban but dont want to get busted. Any one have any experences?
 
i guess they could cite you for vandalism it really depends on the cop who busts you or if they do at all
 
Yeah its illegal. depends on the cop. I've gotten Criminal Trespassing because it was on a college campus. You can get all sorts of stuff. Vandalism, Trespassing, and get fines and have to pay for paint and shit. thats all part of it though. thats what makes it urban, and not a park rails. well, that, and the concrete stairs and minimal snow.
 
soon there will be signs everywhere in parking lots and stuff. Then some lame company will make "Skiing is Not a Crime" shirts and stickers. How depressing.
 
in b-town we went to a rail and some snowboarders were hitting it. they said cops came, the kids explained to them that they were just sliding the rail and the cops said "well, as long as you're just sliding it and not destroying anything, you can do it" but later on it turned out the snowplow people or something made them take the jump down for sum reason. we went there later and set it back up
 
i never sid i wouldnt do it its just this year i now can dive to rails and stuff were last year id have to ask some one to take me, how do u get i am a pussy? and why do u have to come on this thread acting like a hardass
 
tell the cops your mom said it was alright as long as you were all playing nicely...works for me everytime

If you are very cooperative when the cops come...and just say, sorry, it was not my intent to be an issue. They will probably just tell you to clean up, and get out of there...it's all about how you talk to them.

^ Ummm... no, you're a dummy. Cops can still tell you to leave or even hold you if they have the suspicion to do so.
 
one gaurd called the cops on us at a cumpus and the other one told us that he slept with his snowboard more than his girlfriend and watched us jib

I'll be the 25th guy to say just be cooperative with them. Trust me, my uncle is a cop, and it's not fun for him to bring kids in and write citations and fines. They want to resolve the problem as easily as possible. A simple "sorry sir, we didn't think it would pose a problem" will work fine. Clean up and leave. As long as he didn't catch his wife sleeping with his neighbor that morning, you should be fine.

Then hopefully you can find a different rail, because it's not good when the same cop finds you more than once. Most cops don't really deal with skiers skiing in a city, so stuff like that sticks out in their mind.
 
I've been busted tons of times but never been arrested or any of that shit. Loser-ass grandmas and shit call the cops on you all the time. Just be real nice and they'll just tel lyou to leave. I've had cops come and say it's cool and then they left for us to keep doing it.

Don't be a dick and you'll be fine.
 
that is exactly what you should do. every time i have gotten busted, if you just tell the cop that you dont want to start stuff, and you didnt realize the legal ramifications, they'll usually tell u what your doing wrong, and why its wrong, and then tell u to leave. it works for berman
 
its illegal, but as peter olenick says. tell the cops you are working on a school project. they will ask for deails, smmothly make some up and youll get away scott free, hopefully
 
yeah man u def have to be real respectful to the police. if ur real polite they'll probably be understanding and just tell u to leave
