ok so it helps to know wats rails r good n wat rails r bad.

so how can i tell them apart from 1 and another. also, how much trouble do u get in wen the cops show up?

 
if the cops show up normaly theyll tell u to leave unless its some kind of federal or state propert, i.e. city hall
 
ledges=bad. umm. dont hit aluminum rails, there like double egded sword. dont hit rails that are highly exposed, those are bad when the cops come.basicaly just find good rails with good landing spots, and runins

aluminum is way softer than most ski edges, alas, you catch and edge and eat shit. some work when its cold or sometimes you might get lucky, but they almost never slide anywhere near as well as steel. You usually need edgeless skis for them.

Also look around for urban yourself, its adds to the fun if you hit a rail you find on your own.
 
Your best bet on hitting urbans is somewhere in the time fram of 1am to 6am. So bring lights if you need em. Good construction lights cost about $15 a peice at home depot. But if the rail you want to hit is hidden well, then hit it whenever. And use lots of salt. That way your inrun and landing will stay solid.
 
look for a good run in, thats usually key. We found a nice DFD but there is a big ass post in the middle right at the top, so you cant hit it unless you cut it down..
