Urban Noooobs

I've never hit any urbans before, but im pretty confident ive got the rail skills to do it. At my school there's a steep 22 stair down rail, a 25? ft dfd, and a 35? ft quad kink. Sooooo, I'm kinda nervous cause I know Im gonna eat shit but I can't wait at the same time...Any tips on how to slay urban would be much appreciated, thanks!

^ wax it? Ive never waxed a rail before. I just walk it with my ski in my hand and on the rail checking for burrs that I file down. Waxing a rail? someone clarify?

You can do it just with an old candle or something, just rub it over the whole rail and it will make the whole thing slide smoother, especially if theres rust or burrs or anything like that.

Just be confident, and start out with a big jump on and scrape it down more and more as you get confortable doing it. I learned also to NOT turn your hips. That never turns out good.

For urban, don't worry about the size of the jump on. Start out big, and shave it down as you get more comfortable doing it. Also do not turn your hips on kinked rails and always go at it with a lot of confidence. Speed is your friend as well. I'm giving you some urban advice.

thanks i understand, but what do you mean dont turn your hips? i thought you would want to just fully commit so you dont get nutted

i just got in from hitting urban, it was my first attempt at lipside out of the park, i kinda broke the rail out of the ground, it was already loose...now it falls to the side...but yeah you have to commit, and make sure you take a ski and slide it down the rail to make sure it doesnt catch anywhere

yeah, gotta leave the paint on. what's more satisfying than walking past that rail a hundred times and seeing the paint scraped off the end of the rail knowing you stomped it.

tehre are many ways to gain less speed on a rail by putting sticky stuff on it.

getting rid of the paint definatly make you go faster and it also makes it easier to slip down on your uphill hip and break it.

lol

just make sure if its a down rail, which most urbs are, that you are leaning forward enough

sliding out on your hip bone hurts like a bitch

Just hit stuff in the park and treat it as if it is urban to get used to it...like hitting stuff with no speed or no lip.

skis would just scrape it off unless your 50-50ing. If you want to make something slippery you just make sure it's very smooth with no burrs.

yeah wax works, and no it doesn't really get scraped off, it fills all the imperfections and makes the rail slick as hell, so like ced said, if its a long rail you probably shouldn't unless it has a sticky spot you get hung up on , then maybe file that spot and rub a little wax on.
