what kinds of new and fresh things would you guys like to see/do for urban this year? obviously rails are good, but there are lots of opportunities to do other creative things. lets hear some ideas!
i spent like 3 hours setting up one of these once. it was over this sewage drainage thing where the culvert comes out and theres a pool of shit. it was a nice step down like 10 foot step down almost. so we got it all set up and i took a run at it. not even close to enough speed
fast plants onto things, nose and tail butters/presses on anything. Spin to taps, taps on and off things, gap to step landings. Urban lines like doing part of a rail spin out then a stair drop, or another rail. There are so many things that new stuff is allmsot limitless.
whatever the snowboarders have done last season for this years videos; that is what the skiers will do. maybe some skiers will do some creative maneuvers, but they will probably get hated on, so they'll stop
what the snowboarders have done is super fucking cool, without a doubt. but, i also think that skiers can do their own creative things due to the differences in what is possible on skis. we can think of original things, too; without ripping off what snowboarders have already thought of/done.
word, i think skiers on the whole lack creativity. there is so much nasty shit we could do on skis in cities that have snow that snowboarders cant hit. for instance skating, it opens up mad obstacles. and no more summer urban that shit is CORNBALLS!! esp in pro flicks.
I wa sthinking...if you could find a low (about 10-12 feet) wall somewhere with a 90 degree corner ( for example, corner of a raised parking lot) build ramp parallel to the wall, stall of top edge near corner, then jump over and land on other side...Its kind of hard to explain on here but I saw a setup near me on which it looks doable with enough snow
Urban skiing is hands down by far my favorite skiing to watch. Nothing beats a powder day, but a good urban rail session comes close in my books. I love urban mann, anyways I would like to see crazy urban jib combos and lines, along with anything super tech but styly.
i think i would def like to see more drops. rails and stuff are cool but i think more variety would be pretty cool and some of the drops and roof jumps were pretty cool in shanghai six
if you think about it, skiers should be able to ride so much more stuff in the city because were not strapped in and getting only as much speed as the drop in ramp gives. id like to see jibbing some less standard stuff, and more air over stairs and stuff theres so much that hasnt been done. urban powder is also sick
I don't see skiing going in that direction, skis can't be that technical and still make it look good, nor can they get nearly enough speed to do most of the urban things in that video
All that urban flatland stuff that LJ and Andy Parry do in the wild west video in skiers union is pretty cool. Just like hopping onto certain things and stuff.
i found this very nice gap to picnic table. its a ten foot gap, with a three foot step-down. measurements are estimate, not exact....but is still sick!
well at my schools football stadium i got and idea. not sure if im actually gonna do it though. basically my plan is to gap the running track. it goes along the base of the stands which are a concrete structure with the bottom rising up about 6 feet higher than the ground. so basically i'd just build a ramp at the bottom, ride down on of the aisles of steps and maybe build a landing too.
