Urban concrete effect on bases

who has some first hand experience on the effects of concrete either from the stairs or just on the ground. i want to judge if it's worth doing some urban this spring break even tho we haven't had snow on the ground for the past couple weeks.
 
and i will have snow right where i come off the rail to stomp it, but i'm wondering about when you ride it out till the concrete stops you.
 
your bases will have holes in them by the end of the day. concrete will completely destroy your skis. way beyond ptex repair.
 
Well, if your sliding concrete things then that will fuck your bases up big time but if your just coming of the rail and hitting a little concrete than it will have a little effect on your bases but I would just do this shit on some rock skis not your nice skis.
 
yeah, and i'm not totally sure weather or not i'm getting new sticks for next winter, so i dont want to totally trash them. one rail is on a playground that i think i'll hit, then i can put the wood chips at the bottom. and what about the smooth concrete in skateparks? cause i got a couple parks with trap rails

I slide a fair amount of urban, concrete obv wears shit alot faster, but aslong as you land on your feet good and theres no rocks its not that bad, the worst I ever had was frozen mud, that scored the fuck outta my bases, cuz it was all pointy and hard like rock.
 
i apologize if my questing for knowledge puts me out there as stupid, i know that it will be bad for bases, but i wanted to know how bad, because as you must know damages can range from dents/small scratches to digging halfway through your ski.
 
wow my urbs aren't in nearly as bad condition as those up there and I've used them for like a full year of summer and winter urban. actually grinding concrete ledges will chew em up pretty good, ridin down stairs and shit will definately make teh skis a lot slower and shit but i've never seen damage as bad as the ones posted above...
 
you dont really want to use the same skis for urban and resort riding though. if you dont wanna buy new skis for next year than invest like 75-100 bucks or so on some beat ass skis from ns and trash those.
 
i tried to stop on some stairs i was falling down the other day and it didnt ruin the bases at all. a few scratches thts all.
 
i would say thats an exaggeration..obviously ski bases are not meant for concrete, and they will steal some base material from you, but it can be fixed, so dont let that stopu from doing a nice urban

Dude. how did you actually post this thread? have you ever skied over a rock? think about what that does. now think about a 1000 connected together little rocks on a single flat plane......

 
you cant say man, it all depends on what and how much if it youre riding, if one pebble puts a dent in your ski, what's a thousand pebbles gonna do? just use your head, and i dont mean that offensively
