Uploading HD Videos

I've got a Canon HD40 camera and when I try and upload the footage in a movie from imovie to vimeo its either too big, or when brought down is wayy crappy quality. Whats a good way to deal with this and make it smaller while keeping quality?

correct me if i am wrong but a big thing effecting the size of file is the bit rate.... try lowering it

make sure your exporting 720p, not 1080p

I did suggest something, learn how to compress. Anyone who is making videos should learn how to compress their video, their fucking editing system will do it for them they just have to press the right buttons and they should know that.

If you got the program "compressor" comes with the Final Cut Pro pakacge use it to compress you movie.
