my friend just got a new mbp, and i want to steal his leopard, but i have a question before i do it.  if i put it on, is it gonna have all my stuff on it or am i gonna have to back it all up and load it back on?  let me know soon cause hes leaving for uruguay and i wanna get it before he goes

You should back it up first jsut in case something does happen. But you can do an archive and install and should just pick up all your stuff. REad the manual that came in the box.

eah you can do a clean install or just an upgrade, the latter will not erase your hard drive. but make a backup, just in case you know..

I have always done a clean install. It seems to have less issues later.

You might have a problem though... I dont know if you can use his install disc. I'm not talking legality either.

When I tried upgrading from 10.3 to 10.4 on my dad's imac, from the 10.4 install disc that came with my ibook, it gave me an error. "This software cannot be installed on this computer."

I may be completely wrong, but I think Apple restricts the discs that come with new machines.

yeah if you buy a new machine, you wont be able to install the version of leopard to another mac. what you need to do is buy a copy of leopard and then you can install it on infinite macs...no serials=no trouble=happiness
