Upgrading ram...how does this look?

yeah i read a guide and it looks to be REALLY easy. take out battery, remove metal strip (3 screws), take out old ram, put in new ram. done.

anyone else have an opinion?

Corsair is a legit company. When you're installing it, remember to jam it in there. Make sure its fully seated cause ram is a bitch to install.

yeah it said you have to use some force to get it in there. and if the computer doesn't boot up it isn't in all the way.

i just wanted to see if it was legit cause i'm saving like $130 compared to apple's ram...but then again, what else would you expect haha.

Oh yeah 1 more thing: make sure you're grounded!! Before you touch anything, touch the metal screw that holds a plate on an electrical socket. Don't work on carpet, if you have a basement that's a great place to do it. I get myself a bit damp (like spray water mist on my shirt / hair) because water kills static electricity. Frying shit sucks, trust me.

oh yeah it said to touch the battery bay to get rid of all static electricity, and just not move after doing so. i'm not trying to fry shit here haha.

thanks for all the help guys, +karma is all i can do.

Water does indeed conduct electricity, but water dampens the buildup of the electrical charges in static electricity. That's why it's easier to shock someone with static electricity in winter because the air is dryer.

smart, thats what i tell anyone buying a mac, dont get a lot of ram, then just buy third party ram, looks fine

haha fuck me it was sold out. i googled the model number and ended up finding it a couple bucks cheaper. thanks guys.

yeah i'm keeping my old ram so if i take it back for a "cleaning" or it has something wrong i'll throw in the old ram.

just for future reference, so you're not wrong again, water does not really conduct electricity. all the ionic particles present in most water are what conducts electricity. but pure water does not really. only a minuscule amount because h2o will break itself down into h+ and ho-, which do conduct electricity.

so in short, most city water and water in general can conduct electricity, but pure water doesn't really.

i just got it today. fast shipping haha it was $15 for the cheapest which sucked. but anyways it went in no problem and works good as hell. i can already notice a difference. good way to spend $70!
