Upgrading My DSLR For Photography Only?

Hey NS, I currently own a canon 7d and have been using it for about 3 years. I strictly do photography of many action sports, landscaping/scenery and sometimes weddings. I shoot photos for my school, friends, and clients. I am currently looking into selling and upgrading my camera to something higher in the canon line because I feel that I need faster focusing in situations, better image quality, FULL FRAME, and a better built camera as well as other small factors. Many people say that the 5dmiii is the best upgrade from here, and I am starting to agree with them but I was wondering about the 6d as the 5dmiii is a bit of a large price jump. (I do have the money though) So I guess should I go with the 5dmiii or the 6d for strictly photography? I'm really stuck and I need some help backing up my thoughts if i'm going with the 5d. This camera will be a big investment and I don't want to make the wrong decision whether it's going too cheap and not being happy, or over spending on something that I don't need.

I'd imagine if you went with the 6D that the worse body and build quality could be a problem

You answered your own question here on this, go with a 5diii, don't go with a 6d especially if you're looking for a better AF system. Its definitely a big investment, but if you are planning on using it as you say, you won't regret it. What lenses do you currently have?

Or just sell it and put the money towards the 5Diii. 24mm is wide enough 95% of the time. Personally, I hardly ever wish my tokina was wider on my gh3, and that is a 22mm equivalent.

The IQ difference between the 2 isnt worth the extra cost, and my experience with the af wasnt worth it eaither. Id rather have a 5d2 and a another good lens. And I LOVED my 17-40 at 17 on my og 5d, such a fun focal length on FF

I would agree with this if we wasn't trying to shoot (action) sports. OP if you don't care about as fast of a frame rate, I would buy a 5dii and a 16-35.

I had no problem shooting action with a 5dc, you don't need 8.5 fps to shoot sports, you are just filling up your memory card with unnecessary shots.

You sure don't need them, guys shot (and shoot) single shots with film and got banger shots, but I just think its easier to pick a good shot out of 8 frames than like 3 or 4. I'm a fps whore, sue me.

The only time I've ever starte to feel limited by the framerate on my 5d2 is shooting pow, which just happens so fast, with snow flying all over, so more fps would be nice

I mean, yeah, the 5Diii is probably what you're going to want to go for here, but you could also consider picking up an older 1D along with it for burst rate purposes.

I'm actually considering a 1Dmk2n just for sports shit, since they can be had for less than a new rebel... (and 1.3 crop isn't honestly that awful - as much as it isn't ideal)
