Update G4 powerbook, or get Macbook pro?

Alright I am starting to take my music production work more seriously now. Should I upgrade my powerbook g4 by adding my memory and a bigger internal harddrive, or should I just save up money for a macbook pro? and no, I will not go PC, apple it is.

I have a 867 MHZ powerpc G4 processor and 640 MB of SDRAM , my harddrive is 50 gig internal but i have a 260 gig external.

What do you guys think. Will my computer be able to run multiple programs at once?
 
use your current computer for as long as possible, it'll get the job done. Then when you land a big client upgrade, once speeds and capacities have at least doubled from where they are now. Buying a new computer is a sucker move that you should only be forced into.
 
what sucks is that I could get memory cheap for my mac, but it has to be apple brand, or the applecare will not protect it, how much does that blow?
 
I may take a loan out and get macbookpro. that way I wont need a new computer for like 5 years, but for now I may just upgrade the memory.

anyone know if theres a newer model coming out that I should know of?
