Does anyone have any suggestions for new up and coming hip sop artists. Im looking for people kinda similar to like Nas, Fugees, Wu-tang, MF doom. I like quality hip hop but none of that backpack garbage.

I meant up and coming like about to blow up. Not perrenial underground favorites. I dont think id call GZA up and coming, or zion i, or aseop, or gangstarr. I meant more like saigon or papoose or dre robinson. Like young guns.
 
Not sure what you conssider backpack garbage. I figure your an "okayplayer hater" but you should check out the Procussions. I just found them and love them. Excellent group, not gangsta garbage. The Coup's new album is also incredible. My Favorite Mutiny is incredible.

Lupe Fiasco is the next big thing, and is off the hook. He is going to be the biggest blown up artist of the year hands down.

There is going to be alot of insanely dope albums in 06. Living Legends crew has a stupid amount of solo and collab heat coming, stones throw should have some solid releses too this year.

But as far as NEW artists Day By Day entertainment has a bunch of sick new artist dropping debut albums this year.

But Lupe will be biggest blow up artist of the year.

I consider "backpack garbage" rappers that are not in touch with the streets at all. I am in no way opposed to intelligent hip hop. But persoanlly, aseop doesnt do it for me.

And how are you gonna call MF backpack rap. His rhymes are usually non sensical and are just about whatever. His songs don't have overtly ambiguous submeanings like aseop or jedi.

What im essentially saying is that i like rap with a conscience that still flows nicely without being too erudite.

i realy realy realy realy like listening to rap that isnt always about money and bitches. its a nice change of pace to hear about politics and various other topics.
 
What the fucks an okayhater or an okay playerhater? Im confused. Also, Sorry about the backpack confusion. I said that to eliminate a lot of artists i dont like. By making a generalization I guess I included some artists that i acually like. Either way, im sticking by the artists that i listed as the type of music im looking for. And thanks for all the suggestions.

ok that is my list of favorite rappers. wtf does bein in touch with the streets have to do with shit? and aesop is in touch with the streets, i know some others may not be like sage francis, tho i dont know his history. i dont want to start bitchin at people, which i could do.

sean price, one be lo, la famiglia, refrigerated crunk, idk if murs is up and comin, and hes been down with the streets since day one so fuck all the haters
