Unsold gear?...

i was just wondering if anyone knows what happens to unsold gear that companies have... for instance, I have huge feet (US 14) so I wear a 31 or 31.5 boot usually but that big of a boot is almost never in a shop's inventory whether it be online or an actual store, so the shop orders it through the brand/company I want and send it from there... so what happens with those 31.5 boots that dont get sold? I'm just wondering if it's possible to get boots in that size from this past season, otherwise I'll just do what I do every few years and get the recent model through a shop I was just lookin to save some money. thanks guys
 
i think all the unsold stuff goes to places like overstock.com and tj maxx. boots that big are probably a special made thing, like not too many are produced.
 
To give you an idea on how it works:
Every February retailers go to Las Vegas for SIA. In case you didn't know, SIA is when shops view the next seasons ski/snowboard lines, so last february, I saw all of the 09 product. So the following month, in March, companies set their order deadlines. So, we ordered all of our stuff for this next winter, in March.

The purpose for the early order, is now companies know what everyone is ordering, so they know have a really good idea on how many ski's to produce, which is why if you come into a shop in December, trying to order a hot ski.. chances are, you are out of luck.

UNSOLD PRODUCT. Companies put unsold product on "closeout" toward the end of the season- Shops can now buy product at a cheaper-than-normal price, so it is not very often that a company has anything left over.

haha yeah thanks for the blah blah blah, already knew all of it but thanks haha. but yeah^ i know the sizes theyre made in and they have them in my size and ive never had a problem ordering a boot even in the spring thru reps and retailers, so i know the companies have them. production by that time is already done so they dont make new ones. and theres no way they sell all of them and i doubt theyve run out of say spks in 31.5. So the question is does anyone know where they are? Im gunna see if i can contact a rep, they gotta be somewhere
