yea, i used to think it was cool but then I grew up. Something about white rich kids pretending they are 'gangsters' is fucking silly.

i fucking love the dead. they probably (definitely) wrote better songs.

but phish are better musicians. more technically proficient and musically able.

ug. im drunk and want to go into more detail.

i feel like the grateful dead had two jam modes. either a song like eyes of the world or franklins tower where they stick to a very simple, groovy theme.

or, contrast that with a dark star, or playin in the band, or like "space." these jams are arhythmic, atonal, just out there noodling NOISE.

phish's incredibly honed improvisational chops just allow for so much more.

more creative, interesting jamming. they can cover many more moods.

i guess i just think phish's "musical vocabulary" is/ was much larger than the dead's.

the fact that america is spending 1 billion a day in iraq, where if only 10% of that went to green energy which we could develop future sustainable vehicles we woudln't have to be in iraq at all. We're there for oil and we're in afghanistan for heroine (and I don't mean to prevent it, pictures of american soldiers guarding it)

When we run out of oil in this lifetime we're all fucked, There are a few options but instead of investing in sustainable resources we're wasting it. Our government is a joke. the bipartisan system is bulshit, gridlock and self-interest gets nothing done.

come on washington wake up, our generation will run out of oil, and then we're fucked. no more shipping items, not more transport, we go back to living off the land in the middle ages. salt our meat to keep it through winter. theres no meat where I live though. your neighbors try to raid your house because they're starving to death.

I really believe this is the future of the world for a while. Then once we begin to become civilized again, we will start all over. This is how life has been for millions of years. some will survive and become nomads once again, like the native amaericans once were.
