Unpopular opinion thread

other than dark side of the moon (which is one of the all time greatest/ most cohesive albums) and a very few other songs, pink floyd are AWFUL. borderline unlistenable. like BAD.

I understand that this is the unpopular opinion thread, but what about Wish You Were Here, Meddle, Animals, Obscured by Clouds? Those albums are all impeccable IMO... If you've only listened to Dark Side and the stuff after/including The Wall then I understand, because Pink Floyd pretty much died with The Wall.

Well I guess I have an unpopular Floyd opinion too; The Wall is not one of their better albums. I love the album but it was basically written by Roger Waters. Gilmour, Wright, and Mason could have been session musicians at that point.

Here's a good one:Although we've gained a lot from science, I think we're going to look back on a lot of our scientific progress in the future and compare it to religion. We'll look back and see terrible and unnecessary atrocities committed in the name of scientific progress. Science will be another ideology like religion, or ecology.

Zionist Jews are controlling/ruining this country and other countries around the world.

Israel was responsible for 9/11

Listen to Gilmour's newer "solo" stuff (with Rick Wright on the keys). On An Island is in the same style as Dark Side of the Moon, and it further enforces the theory that Gilmour and Wright WERE Pink Floyd. As soon as Roger Waters started taking charge, their music turned to shit (most of The Wall & The Final Cut).

Seriously though, fuck everything about Roger Waters. He's a pompous ass who ruined the greatest prog band of all time.

This occurs not because of science, but because those with the power to mandate scientific progress do not fully understand the philosophical implications of scientific reasoning. Science has been an ideology since its inception, the problem is that people put too much faith in it without understanding its intrinsic limitations. E.G. people who are dumb enough to believe that everything can be either proven or disproven.

I sort of agree, but after The Final Cut when Gilmour took over (i.e. momentary lapse of reason era), they were equally as bad, and the lyrics were especially lacking. They produced their best work in the wake of Barrett's mental breakdown, when they all worked together. A 6 year golden period for Floyd, from Meddle to Animals. Without Waters we wouldn't have the lyrics, no solos or good guitar work without gilmour, no great gig in the sky or welcome to the machine without wright, and Mason is obviously a boss but the drummer never gets any credit.

The Wall is such a crazy and fucked up album, it really tells the story of itself, i.e. band leader turned megalomaniac patronizing and looking down on his fans. Kind of a really dark, self-fulfilling prophecy. Of any band Floyd has one of the most colourful and interesting histories.

Have to agree though, On an Island is dope. 10/10 for you sir (for this post and your response to my science thing).

OK I'm done.. Back on topic.

OK, SERIOUSLY. Am I the only one who thinks "thread game" threads are the stupidest fucking threads??

Hey, that's something I can get behind. I don't particularly like cake and ice cream either.. :p

strapping on a pair of snowblades and ripping through the park is actually really fun.

woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah.

a. seahawks are predicted to win, and as a skins fan, i probably will agree.

b. its a fact that rgIII is better than russell wilson

c. russel wilsons job is to hand the ball to marshawn lynch (who is a fucking beast on so many levels) and occasions float one over the defense after lynch has drawn the safteyes so far into the linebackers that tate, or rice can just sneak past thesingle coverage.

no, it's a fact that his overall stats are better- it isn't a fact that he's better. That's overall, too. RW beats RG in a few categories. Quite a few different factors go into how well a quarterback is playing. My opinion was that I think RW is better than RG if all other factors were equal (ie: all the same teammates/game match-ups/conditions being equal. Stats don't tell you that.

Also, go ahead and argue that RGIII is better, there are quite a few stats that show that he very well may be- hence me posting this in the unpopular opinions thread, but your "c" point is just lame. You don't give RW any credit for his own rushing game and scrambling abilities-- sure, RGIII has more yards and TDs rushing, but RW has skills worth mentioning in this category. Also RW has 6 more passing TDs.

no-- see you failed to factor in my bias of being from Seattle-- that's where you veered.

But-- Russell Wilson was more bang for your buck (3rd round draft, not hyped). Also just looking at potential, I feel like Carroll didn't have the faith in Wilson to let him loose (allow him to scramble and throw) until we were 5-6 games into the season. The beginning of the Hawks season relied on rushing primarily, which is the Seahawks style, but after 5-6 games, if you were watching, you would have noticed a big change in the play calls-- Wilson was given more freedom and the Seahawks now have a passing game as well. So although RGIII may have beat Wilson stat wise this season, I feel like Russell Wilson is just getting started and assuming he doesn't get injured I'm foreseeing an unbelievable season for the Seahawks next year right out of the gates.

I'm not saying he's bad- far from it and the hawks beat my team (the pats) but rg3 has taken a struggling team and turned them into a playoff contender. Rw is definitely an asset but not a game changer like rg

i fucking love bandanas and if i had the option between a cheeseburger and french toast at 6 in the morning i would take the burger.
