Snowboarders generally know how to build better parks. Low and flat takeoffs for rails are way better than a moon booter onto the feature. Usually a lot more creative, better flow, and less like a slope course.

I'm definitely tryna get a lot of snowboarder inspo for Zero Zone. Hmu with edit/movie suggestions for build ideas

I don't know if this is even an unpopular opinion but I'm tired of seeing uninspired song selections in edits, particularly on instagram. Lots of people using the same songs in their reels, and also lots of people using griselda songs after henrik started using them in his videos.

Watching amateur back country jump segments is 10X more entertaining than professional back country jump segs.

I would not only agree but also say this about amateur content vs pro content in general.

Kind of annoys me when people go overboard with promoting their sponsors. Of course I understand it's a quid pro quo situation and you gotta promote them but you don't need to tag them multiple times in a post and tag like 5 of your sponsors in every story that features your skiing.

A lot skiers are essentially social media influencers who, instead of getting paid as they ideally would, get some free gear and market not just their skiing but their lifestyle on social media. It's like your whole online persona is just one product rather than a means of actually expressing yourself and showcasing some of your skiing. Might be stating the obvious with this one but I still think it's a shame. I think Emmet had the right idea when said on twoplanker podcast (as I recall) that people who ride for vishnu don't need to active on social, and instead they get actual compensation for filming actual videos and for their role in their local community. Wish this was more common

This is my beef with it right here. I almost never spend time on insta because it feels like I'm just scrolling through endless promotion posts. Most "sponsorships" in skiing consist of kids absolutely whoring themselves out on social media for very little in return. Groveling for pennies, I call it.

this was pretty nice, don’t know too many snowboarders but was a good watch

This was actually enjoyable to watch. Outside of some pow stuff, I think most snowboarding videos are boring as fuck to watch and have really wack music. Like holy shit nothing gets me more excited to hit urban than whiny folk punk songs

skiing and NS is infested with SOYBOY liberals who have unoriginal artwork that takes 0 risk. Most people pretend that they are "underground" when they are LAMESTREAM

Don't know if anyone's said this this, but I find that the ultra pros, like the ones competing in X Games and stuff are not interesting to watch when it comes to rails. When I started watching TC I was blown away by the style. Hippy Killers, Bindsides (are those "Magic tricks?") are way cooler and also stuff that I don't see with the Red Bull sponsors etc. Granted I'm not a park skier so maybe I just can't appreciate it, but that's just my two cents.

Giving military discounts for ski passes is stupid. Gee thanks for worsening climate change very significantly and dropping bombs on brown people so that you could buy a dodge charger for yourself

shut up pus. don't blame the soldiers for getting involved in wars we shouldn't be, blame the politicians. you'll crap your pants the second a bully looks in your direction but then you go on ski forums to shit on soldiers risking their lives?

At my home mtn the park staff were all snowboarders and most of them were dicks. Constantly pulling passes from skiers, not once featuring a skier on their very active insta etc. That said the parks were the best around and now that the staff is mostly run by skiers it's nothing like it was back in the day despite funding being more or less the same. My friends and I were always mad that they built "snowboard features" and now we all miss the creativity.

Forre this, child labor that, Slim to None was the best ski film released in the past 3 years and if you disagree with this you should probably just spend the $10 and finally watch it

unpopular opinion: skiing without a helmet is sick

i ski with a helmet but it's still cool when i see people without them. you never see a jerry without a helmet, someone wearing a hat is almost definetly shredding.

ik that lot of the people here are park skiers so i bet it's not quite as unpopular compared to other communites but idk

This statement is too broad. Which era of level 1, what types of movies, because this is just objectively wrong.

ups on the unpopular opinion

2000's level 1 gets a pass, some good clips/segments here and there. also the nostalgia factor is cool

post 2010 level 1 is pretty ass. eye trip and after dark are mostly good tho

post 2015/current level 1 is complete dumpster fetus. hopefully this one speaks for itself

Okay see that’s respectable, I can get down with that. I was gonna say refresh and pre 2010 level 1 is so good. I would also argue that sunny was pretty good and had a unique vibe to it. But fair enough, I like them all but I can understand you now where before I was just like hell nah

found a great band, chappo from sunny

Why do ppl love to dickride the pioneers of the sport? People are way too stuck in the past and it’s annoying cuz kids are on another level now. Seamus Flanagan is the goat I don’t care

I liked Romance actually but I agree everything Less and after was a step down.

Not referring to liking people or giving flowers. I’m talking about people who are like “nothing will ever top stept! That shit was peak” as if they are still peak street skiing.

Same with anything really, not just street crews. I get putting respect on peoples names but but don’t sit here and tell me “no one will ever have style like brogan!” When I could name probably 50 style lords who all have infinitely better style than brogan ever did.

And on top of the hood was legendary but Magma I and II blow that shit out of the water any day of the week. Gonna sit and drool over Sammy Carlson throwing dubs on hood while hunter hess is doing triples off a natty quarter pipe like come on.

Shit irks me, we living in the best generation of skiers and ski films but everyone too busy dickriding old pros and getting caught up in nostalgia to even realize the best shit of all time is coming out now, not 10-15 years ago

I think this is just the natural conclusion of pretty much everything in the current era where Instagram/tik tok are the main ways in which media is distributed, everyone has to be an influencer now. I hate it

New Street parts that people refer to as wack these days have spots tricks and style that would’ve been legend status 10 years ago

forre, strictly, CL, buldoz, fucking any of the highly praised crews blow stept, 4bi9, level 1 street parts out of the water. It’s not even close. seamo hitting a back 6 off a spot cam Riley was doing 90 on to switch off of, the future is now and these kids are on a whole different level

Yea, but they don't make street skiing look absolutely miserable.

Nah but HG skis kinda made it dark too. Stylistically I think a lot of the stept movies are pretty supreme but I meant the kids in the movies now are just better. You can’t tell me anyone from that era is touching joona sipola

Been watching ski movies for 20 years and I agree, I love the old stuff but people who worship it are mad annoying every era has its fair share of good and bad content

I agree that level 1 has fallen all the way off. New films are not very good

maybe you could say that about the full lengths, but really enjoy the shorter films that level 1 is a part of
