Unpopular opinion thread skier's edition

Honestly fuck pros and fuck camps. Anyone who shuts lifts to the public can get fucked.

I can’t name a single active male ski racer.

Only know RCS because I took my niece to Cochoran's during the olympics.

Anyone who thinks you need a ski less than 100mm wide to have fun carving on groomers is a boomer dork that doesn’t have the skills to properly rail a hard carve

ski shape overall is just personal preference at this point no matter the terrain.

The only retort I have for this is people with knee injuries might like skinnier

Backcountry jump sessions are the most boring thing in ski movies

there’s a difference between hitting them and watching people do the same tricks over and over each year

That is a thing in every part of skiing, not just backcountry. Sure the spots are different, but when was the last time you saw an actual NBD in a street or park shoot?

you can only be so original when hitting pow jumps (this goes for park jumps as well) vs street and park spots

i see nbd rail tricks all the time lmao

Yeah when I am watching park, street, or bc skiing, I am always looking at the terrain or features and wondering what the skier is going to do next and I don't really know what to expect. With bc jumps I know exactly what is going to happen next - one trick then landing.

Also I'm not saying all bc jump videos are boring, but on average they are the most boring thing for me

pow jumps are laughably predicable when everyone does layout dub backies, single corks and switch rodeos

NBD tricks? Or the same tricks on new spots? Because if it’s the latter that argument also works for all bc shit, just saying

Yes nbd rail tricks

The only time they are good is when it's a unique, creative build that ideally utilizes the terrain in a way that is outside the box.

Watching amateur back country jump segments is 10X more entertaining than professional back country jump segs.

Well if you keep watching them they will keep showing you more of them that’s how it works. Insta suggests them to me too sometimes but I just don’t watch them. It’s your own fault if you’re letting insta decide what you watch. You’re not the victim of some evil algorithm, you’re willingly subjecting yourself to it

If you’ve got to use Instagram just use it in a browser, the explore page loads too slow to mindlessly scroll and your feed always shows most recent posts from the people you follow. Took me down from 4 hours a day on the app to maybe 20 minutes a day if my group chats are active.
