honestly forre and the bunch are kind of in their own lane these days. Everybody is trying to be like HG Skis or zootspace (a lot of those dudes are from the east I think

HG was east coast, Zoot heavily east coast, STEPT all east coast, CL mostly east coast, Tom Wallisch, Brogan, Rainville… I’m not gonna name all the pros who had influence but like sooooo many people who broke boundaries and progressed the sport and divided it into different niches are from the east, not just street crews

I’m not downplaying East coast, I’m just saying you can’t unequivocally say they had the biggest impact. What about tanner hall (Montana), candide thovex (France), Jon Olsson (Sweden), Jossi Wells (NZ), etc etc?

And I’m not saying street skiing came from Finland. Just that it’s a very popular destination that has influenced ski and snowboard street culture for decades.

Warren Miller and Poor Boyz - California

MSP - Colorado

Loads more companies or people who have influence on the direction of the sport are from other places than the east coast. All those film groups certainly had way more impact on the whole freestyle scene than individual athletes.

Saga was started in Montana and moved to Utah. They were super influencial on the sport.

Then you need to get either better clothing or style.

Watch old edits of vinny minton, murda johnson, rachard johnson, brian aragon, julian bah. These guys all have mad steeze and are wearing hella baggy shit.

a lot of modern blading is ugly af but same goes for skiing. Really in any action sport it's all about style.

You brought up a question for me how do you feel about modern more “tech” I guess flowy mushroom inspired bladders like Bobby Spasov and like bacemint. Personally I like the extra flair from the shiftys, taps, and swivels. But curious about your perspective on it.

[tag=258518]@FruitBootPro[/tag] i guess you can kinda through Eugin Enin in there as well.

Racing is actually kinda fun. Yeah I hate the people and I would never go back but it was kinda fun cruisin down the hill trying to keep ur edges under you lol

Poles almost always look way steezier until you can't get any grabs or punch yourself coming off a rail

Wish my hill would bring back the beer race league they had for a few years. Sucked not having great skis for it, but was still a good time.

Only time poles don't look better is street spots.

Casual racing is a hoot and a half. Lightly competitive, can get the trash talk going on the hill and the bar afterwards, adds some personal challenge. Highly recommend beer league evening racing.

It's funny cuz I roll my eyes at a lot of the bacemint stuff but I love Bobi Spassov's skating. I think at the end of the day, what matters most to me is style, and a lot of the more tech bladers have a style that I find super stiff and forced and contradictory to freeskiing's concept of style. But Bobi's style is really flowy and smooth so I don't care if some of the tricks he does are a bit weird. Plus he actually does drop bigger tricks regularly

lol yeah watching racing feels like f1 but shorter and only 1 car going at a time

Yall are hating on racing for no reason. It requires way more power and determination than freeskiing ever will. Coming from someone who has never even been on racing skis.

Racing is a sport for pushing your body to its limits and freeskiing is more like something else idk, balls? Like comparing sprinters to skateboarders. All (most) athletes deserve respect.

if you shit on ski racing I'm going to assume that you can't carve a good turn

idk about others but i shit on ski racing because of the clothing and most of the ppl doing it are entitled butt holes

think they own the mtn, snobby, etc

also just looks so boring, like downhill mountain biking is super exciting to watch and most of the guys and gals doing it have a lot of steeze outside the tape.

oh ski racers are dicks 100% and you don't have to enjoy watching it but ski racing deserves respect because skiing fast will always be cool and that's what you learn to do racing

Ski racing is fun as fuck. One of the young young’s I coach, has older siblings and parents who race, his dad also helps coach the race programs since he was a junior Olympic and colliegate racer. The dad setup a dual slalom and invited our group of 7 rippas over to ski it the whole morning since it was mashed potato’s and raining. Had such a blast watching the little kids race eachother, their parents, siblings, racers and us coaches. My friends Ethan and Faith were coaching with me that day and we just raced each other, kids and racers and parents in the dual slalom course. I got smoked by the kids dad who was a racer and his 9 year old sister. Both by four- five gates ?. I’ve never liked racing before and always thought it was lame when my dad and his friends or my friends wanted to poach the gates but this made me really like it

You ever meet a group of 12 year old park rats?

Some racers are rad ski bums and others are rich assholes. Similar can be said about park skiers, probably not to as much of a degree since rich parents aren't involved with their child's park skiing as much, but even that's changing.

using griselda in ski edits has gradually become more and more unbearable to listen to

U don’t even know who the fuk that is or do the listeners. Put some respect on the name b4 commenting on it.

we need more Junior Boys and Chromeo and the postal service like in the good 2005-2010 edits

Rally is more like FWT

Ah I see what you mean. Just going off his description of the sport resembled rally over f1. But if we’re comparing skiing disciplines to motor racing than yea I’d agree.

Wrc beats f1 a million to one

for sure. No disagreement here. They just need to actually find a way to get it in front of race fans (especially outside of Europe) and they would get so much more viewers.

The problem was race fans would get in front of the cars, not the other way around

Haha, not literally but figuratively. I mean in terms of ways to view the sport via online or tv. At least for me here in the US I can’t really find a way to watch it.

The Kelso bros that own bacemint are super old school, their old video parts have a lot of hammers before they started doing more weird tech stuff around 2009 or so.

I think that most Tall T stuff is ugly. Cool company because they support a lot of riders, but not my cup of tea.

They just need to make papers again, then it will be in style again. You’ll still catch me layering in Tall T’s everyday though.

A lot of their T shirt designs have kind of gone out of style in ski culture. I get complemented on my white crew hoodie by people who don’t even ski every now and again though.

Center mounted or mostly center mounted twin tips shorter than you are almost impossible to ski well on challenging terrain and are extremely unstable.

You guys should just get good maybe don't get flimsy skis

Very true but if the skis are much taller than you they can actually feel semi stable. My HGs were so fun until tryna ski around bridger, it’s miserable and I’m somewhat taller than them. Never buying park skis under 186 again.

Dw I’ve already been doing this. Been daily driving 189 wren 108s this year, still ride flimsy twins sometimes though and usually regret it lol
