Unpopular opinion thread skier's edition

I just one one skier in the Xgames to do a style run.

Disaster or LB2 every rail and 0 spin every jump. Just to see what the score would be. I know they work hard af to get to that point so they'd never throw away a chance to actually podium, but that would make someone a legend and tbh I cant even remember who won Xgames like a week after it happens. this would be way more memorable

Henrik literally zero spin'd his last 2 runs in big air last year AND copped gold.

this is exactly why i love tubes so much

Nothing wrong with that, I just think people should aspire to take the tricks they can do on a tube to a more legit rail

Everyone says they want to see full edits, but then when a full edit is posted, very few people actually take the time to watch, share, or appreciate it.

And another thing... It's wack as fuck when people post on their story promoting their most recent post.

Not even a skier's thing but just a general thing. I've even received snaps from people to go like their recent IG post, like bro that's some desperate shit right there.

Meh. Kids arguing online or not, vishnu is doing just fine.

If you’re concerned with what others think of your skiing more than how much fun you’re having, you’re not doing it right.

I think I am actually but ok buddy

-The term "Big Mountain." Just because you ski a 16'000ft Mountain in Colorado doesn't mean you're a "Big Mountain Skier."

-Free Touring and Ski Touring are the exact same.

-Ian McIntosh.

A 16,000 foot mountain in Colorado? :-D

Beginner skiing lessons are a waste of money, your friends can show you how to put a boot on, put your weight onto the front of the skis and snowplough in about 30 minutes, beginner ski lessons sliding around the flat with one ski on is a waste of time and money

Lessons can be terrific for real friends, because if you're a friend of those friends you mention, you should eventually let them go have fun while you pay some schmuck to show you the obvious things over and over and over and...

Social media influencing is also huge now with anything but hasn't reached annoying levels in skiing yet. Yeah there are a ton of "brand ambassadors" getting paid to ski all year and say X or Y product/company/brand are cool and its effective on consumers but the day we start having unboxing videos for new skis or whatever will be lame.

Unboxing videos! LOL! Thank god I didn't grow up with that most stupid of shitty things. Unboxing videos are the lazy fucktards way to pretend their opinion is worthwhile.

Most if not all "flat 1s" are some variant of an underflip 5. Same thing with "dub 5s".

Also, doubles are sick AF. Bootgrab triples and quads not so much, but I admire the athleticism and balls it takes to pull them off.

Finally, baggy is and was the best look for freestyle skiing. Not necessarily "thug" but just going up a size or two on all outerwear.

LOL, you're already old! You think the way things are when you found your fun in an activity is THE way to have fun!

If you ever saw "Suzy Chapstick" (Suzy Chaffee) in form-fitting clothes doing the ORIGINAL freestyle skiing, you would have a tough job arguing baggy looks good. But then, since you probably only think you know what original freestyle clothing looks like, what does it matter?

If you think the fundamental nature of human aesthetics magically changes for freestyle skiing versus all other human activity, you have a burden to show that or else it all sounds like contradicting obvious truth. The fact is that well-fit clothes have been recognized throughout human history as better-looking, regardless of activity. The only thing "good" about a baggy appearance is an implied attitude (but do clothes magically change a person?).

The baggy clothes NEVER began as a look because it looks good. It looks like crap, even on skiers. As the population gets fat, people are pretending it looks good. It doesn't. Even fat people look better in properly-fit clothing, even when they are freestyling. Since freestyle started with well-fitted clothing and people look better in it (unless they have unattractive bodies), why can't you accept that?

Now this is a truly unpopular opinion, well done

Grabbing your ski while you are sliding a rail is like grabbing your dick while your having sex.

It makes no sense and will only serve to get in the way

No

2cm back from center is actualy the correct "center mount".

Edit: ask any pro park skier, their mount is gonna be 1-3cm from center.

13866153:Cyanicenine said:
True center mount is bad, and forces you to ski in the backseat. Most people are not skiing switch enough to make it worth it. Bring on the downvotes.

Please come ride your 116s on the East Coast

Please douse me with your wisdom about how nobody is a real skier till they ride the zamboni up their 18' vertical home hill in Vermont and slide down fully sideways. Smh. Buy a touring rig and move somewhere else.

If you ever ride a ski thinner than 108 underfoot you're completely wasting your time and should get off the hill.

This dude 100% buys skis he thinks will make him look cool and projects about his insecurities

Why can't you just admit you're not able to afford 2 pair of skis.

Doing rails doesn't impress girls, at any level, it could even get worse when technical ...

... while a single invert on a jump of any size makes them wet af

Be careful, NSers are rail maniacs and virgin, you'll get them angry. But I do agree, once I did a backswap to switch in front of my ex girlfriend, it was a decent one and I was quite hyped about it, this bitch thought I struggled with the rail and miraculously survived. I still hate her, that's a big part of why we're not together anymore.

The only exception is normal people can appreciate big gnarly urban stuff. Like Clayton vila hitting that big ass arch rail in the 86

but yeah generally they’re more into B I G A I R and flips and can you really blame them?
