Unpleasant future?

On top of all the other issues in the world, how much would another "cold war" with Russia suck?

not really sure where this might lead, but it's certainly not a happy future where military power = respect

I'm pretty sure that the Cold War never ended in the sense that matters. Like they said in the video, at one point, they just didn't have enough money to keep the planes in the air. Information and economic warfare have continued pretty much unimpeded.

I also don't think people realize that this recent push for Kosovo independance puts the US and Russia on opposite sides of a pretty fucking important issue thats been causing alot of violence in the past week. The Balkan states also have a history of igniting world wars.

fuck russia. all they are good for is vodka anyways. and those legit onion shaped buildings. those are sick for sure. like in that one movie, i dunno what its called.

What the hell does landing on the moon have to do with pwning someone? Its good propaganda at best. We both have ICBM now, so I don't think its relavent at all.

We might have pwned them economically for a little while, but Russia is making a shit-ton of money on it's massive oil reserves right now, and selling weapons to the middle east. Putin personally has ~40 BILLION dollars. I think he even pwned Cheney, despite Halliburton.

i think he's referring to US (get it? it's a pun!) landing on the moon before them. they did put a man (not to mention sputnik) in orbit before us though....

This report is to encourage fear once again. Russia has no desire to fight. All they are doing is practicing and getting flight hours.

Practice for what? I don't think the report is encouraging fear -- rather it's a legitimate reaction to have a feeling of uneasiness about someone flying strategic bombers around.

You really think we should not care or not have any reaction to someone flaunting military power?

You make an argument for russia wanting to get flight hours, I say russia has plenty of air space above it's own country, it doesn't need to be practicing near the boarders of other countries.

In the end though, we really need to stop showing respect for military power, a great nation shouldn't be defined by the strength of it's military.

i agree with the idea that they might be practicing. Military pilots do need practice quite often. Though you would think they might do it over that huge empty country of theirs. And are you just finding out about this now? This has been happening for more than a month now.

i also find it funny how Russia sometimes exiled people to siberia. Apparently keeping them in the shittiest section of russia was worse than just kicking them out altogether.

i don't really ever agree with anything you say, but this time i think you're exactly right. i've been saying for a long time that the cold war wasn't over, and now with russia set to become the world's largest oil producer in the near future, things are going to get very interesting.

although, to be fair, the russians still have a long way to go on the path to returning to major superpower status - those bears are what, 60 years old? i guess b-52s aren't much newer though.

word dude. i was reading about some of this the other day on the internet and we are ironically learning about the Cold War in my history class now. i tried explaining it to my teacher, but he then went on a fucking power trip after i pretty much proved what he was saying that whole class was wrong and threatened to throw me out of class etc. if i didn't quit "disrupting class" when he told us to openly discuss the issue. he is a fucking dick.
