Unofficial Superunknown Semi/Final Edits

This year you vote for the finalists from the semi-finalists. I'm not 100% sure but I'm pretty sure that's the case this year.

who the fuck has both way dub 7s?!?! the finalists must be ludicrous for whipple not to be there

Finalists are going to be crazy to watch if these are still just semi's, Seb Eave's urban's were just too good!

Every year there are semi finalists way ahead of some finalists, I wouldn't imagine any finalists with better tech jumps than whipple. But as is apparent every year, level 1 does not want or need any more tech jumpers in there films. Wish Jordan made finals, reminds me of charley ager a bit and he hucks fucking anything

Have you ever watched a Patagonia movie? Level 1 is not hipster in the slightest. Brent's edit was nuts for a park edit, but he is bringing nothing new to the table for Level 1. Sure he has good jump skills, but other than the both ways dub 7s he's just throwing the same sort of tricks as the other guys. The main reason I don't think he made finals is all, but one of the rails in his edit were park rails. Park rail skills =/= urban skills in the slightest. Brent didn't put together an edit to the type of skiing Level 1 focuses on.

unfortunately couldn't really hit urban in Tahoe this year, the two urban rail shots I had were from the one day there was enough snow on the ground. winter never came

why does level1 always have such banger entries that are only semi finalists, and then the finalists are genreally a let down... brent4prez

and goddamnit I hope Alex Hall gets through, his was fiya, did a couple Stept spots a little better than Stept, really want it to see the light of day

seriously....that edit was so on point. he could win wild card slot, but wont win superunknown because hes not "level 1ish"...same way chris laker prolly had the "best edit" back in like 08 or 09 or whatever year that was

Fair enough, man. Snow on the west coast has been shit this year. Your edit was one of the best park edits I've seen this year though. Hope to see some more from you in the coming seasons.

And thank god Jordan Clark did not make it. He is way to good to film with Level 1. Someone like TGR or Sherpas needs to pick this guy up.

So many sick skiers, but i think Brent is my favourite so far.

Can't wait to see the finalists edits, how good can they get?

If level one is looking for urban skiers, then why would they make the finals at a park shoot with the ten finalist? I dont know how many finalist could have much better jump game then Brent.

Because an urban shoot just wouldn't work. They had a park shoot last year and chose Magnus who's main focus is on urban.

Doing urban is not bringing anything new to the table for level 1. The both way dub 7s are new not only to level 1 but to skiing. I may be wrong but I think whips the only one with both way dub 7s. And although park rail skills=/= urban skills, he showed in the last shot that he has urban skills. I agree that it would have been better with more urban but ur logic is flawed.

Has level 1 ever picked the best jump skier? Urban is the main focus in level 1 movies and they are always looking for new talent. I'm sure he has urban skills, but a rodeo off a rail does not show you are good at urban. You need to show a wider variety of tricks such as switch ups, spins on, and multi-kinked rails. What I've also noticed about this contest over the years is that it is not always the skier that throws down the hardest that wins, it's the one who shows creativity while throwing down. I'm not hating on Brent, he definitely has my vote so far to move onto the finals, but I'm trying to point out why he didn't make it in the first place.

not saying brents wasnt sick, it was fucking nuts but i have a feeling the quality of the edit might also help him out on getting votes

Wait, but which way does Brent spin natural? Seriously both ways are flawless. Also I'm still trying to wrap my head around that both ways dub 7

Lundmark's would have been a sick edit but compared to the other three from today and most of the others it was kind of meh aside from that dub 7. The other three were filthy though.

The number of guys killing it these days is completely out of hand.

A dub 7 was thought to be impossible 3 years ago, and now a dude has both way dub 7s in a superunknown edit and isn't even a finalist? Absurd. No wonder film skiers make no money - there are AMs out there making nothing that are just as talented.

Lundmark and whipples have my vote by far right now, seb eaves would, but I just have a stigma for skiers who do insane tricks but only in one direction...

As much as I loved whipples, I think that it be cool if someone who isnt already on the fast track to being a well known pro would win. With the jump game and being so young Brent is going to soon be doing very well at upper level contests.

A couple new ones

Laurent De Martin Superunknown XI Finalist from Level 1 on Vimeo.

Kevin Salonius Superunknown XI Finalist from Level 1 on Vimeo.

Four to Five years ago Laurent De Martin would most likely have won segment of the year with that part. My favorite in quite some time, if the rest are on par with this I will be beyond stoked.

Kevin's also a fucking steeze ball. I'm liking the emphasis on style thus far, Level 1 at it again per usual.
