Unnecessary Headwear Accessorization

I am specifically referring to spring skiing, when its fifty degrees or more out and kids are lapping the park wearing FULL winter headgear. It's totally unneccesary to be wearing goggles, hat, helmet, bandana, and headphones when its this warm. Why don't you guys just chill the fuck out and put on some sunglasses and lose the bandana on the face?

What do you guys think about this?

who are you some JONG?

i wouldnt think about wearing sunglasses skiing. but overall i agree with the general premise of this thread.

{Seal of Approval}

im still going to wear my helmet thank you and googles are much more comfortable imo i just think that your overreacting a little let people wear what they want.

Sunglasses fly off too easily.

My headphones don't fit well without a hat over them.

I like listening to music.

Every time I don't wear my helmet, I end up with a concussion.

Bandanas are better than sunscreen on the face.

That's why.

Well I will always wear a helmet and to wear a helmet I wear a touque. Bandannas are sort of pointless all year round though seeing as they just freeze. So I don't wear one of those. Sunglasses just fall off when you fall so I prefer goggles.

because sunglasses are gaper city, unless you have 100 bones laying around for some frogskins. helmets are ALWAYS necisarry, and my helmet doesnt fit without a hat under. but i agree bandanas are dumb

I see where you're at, and i'm gonna let you have that... but i think you're wrong. Helmet is a must at all times, call me a pussy and you're calling yourself a dumbass in the process. Sunglass lenses have a much higher chance of popping out and poking your brain windows than goggles, bandanas are crucial for sun. Enjoy your fancy free skiing though, sounds fun!

PLEASE tell me you're joking...The EPS shell on the inside of a helmet is specially designed to absorb most of the impact of a fall, allowing as little of the force of the fall as possible to act on your skull. This reduction in the amount of force acting directly on your skull, and in turn, your brain, greatly decreases the rider's risk of sustaining a serious head injury.
A hat, on the other hand, is just cushy and soft.
But to the OP, some people are just cold when they ski, but it is never a good idea to leave your face uncovered on the hill in sunny conditions unless you're using strong sunblock. You can get a really terrible sunburn because the snow is so reflective. Usually, I wear a bandana around my head and one around my face, or I tie a T-shirt around my face (which works really well).
And as for the goggles, goggles won't fall off, they keep wind out of your eyes, and they are far less likely to break; and if they do break, they are far less likely to stab your eyes, as someone above me said.

Sorry to double post, but judging by your karma/posts, I'm guessing you are indeed joking and that my sarcasm-meter was broken. But my previous comment retains its usefulness for those who really aren't joking.

Since when do teenagers care about uv rays? Even so, sunscreen does the trick with out making you look like you popped out of a John Wayne movie

Hat - Ok ill give you that 1

Helmet - Some people care about saftey

Bandana - Block sun from face

Headphones - Has nothing to do with weather, people wanna listen to music is that a crime?

Overall

1. Who cares, do what you want

2. Maybe they are cold, speak for yourself

3. Just a stupid thread in general

i wear a helmet so i dont crack my head open if i fall

i wear head phones because i like music

i wear goggles because i dont have sunglasses and i think they look stupid

i wear hats cuz they make everything more comfy

there

how are sunglasses gaper city? i love riding in sunglasses... goggles are for fucking pussy's anyways.

my favorite is either the goggle around your neck, or around your head, with sunglasses on. it actually pisses people off to the point where they make comments about it to you. its fucking excellent.

but, both my shitty $7 sunglasses, AND, my goggles got stolen. so now i just squint all day.

same here but when its just a hat then maybe, me if i go just hat then i wear a headband instead

and i forgot to add goggles:

1. more comfortable

2. better perif vision

3. anti fog

4. no water in

5. no wind in eyes

6. stay on better

sunglasses are gaper city with a helmet.
A helmet is necessary, my helmet and goggles work better with a hat, Bandanna protects me from the sun.
That's why.

1. thats not true. sunglasses are lighter, theres no strap wrapped around your head, it feels like your not wearing anything

2. Also not true. you can see everything with shades on

3. shades have anti fog

4. stop falling

5. get bigger sunglasses

6. get a croakie

1. preferance id say

2. no spherical lens

3. not most

4. slush rooster tails? dont try to tell me you dont take snow to the face on a daily basis when you ski 1 way or another

5. always a gap no matter what

6. gaper. and still falls from eyes to neck

good question^ and no, claiming is actually easier and way more fun. im going skiing in like an hour (with just glasses), cant wait to tell you guys how it goes!

ill make sure to claim a lot of stuff too ;)

^^ you broke the thread!

im 100% irish. i get sunburnt walking to the mailbox. so although im skiing in a hoodie in late march i prefer to wear a bandana so my face isnt peeling by monday.

Goggles - protect your eyes from the Sun/ wind

Bandana - protect against unwanted goggle tan and burning

Helmet - you still fall during summer

Hat - so that helmet fits correctly. Also a lot of people use summer pad kits instead, and do not wear hats.

Headphones - to listen to music, and drown out the sound of idiots like you.

Gogs-tan

helmet-don't wanna break my head open

Bandanna-I guess if you don't want a gig tan

Hat under helmet is kinda dumb in spring tho. None of that stuff is nearly as bad as the people who wear full winter jackets in March though. That's just asking for heat stroke. I can see a hoodie if you're throwing down and don't wanna kill your arms but that's it.

I drop the hat when it gets warm, but I keep the gogs because they stop the wind, which happens when you bomb the hill(I like to be able to see).

I ski in the same jacket in the spring as I do in the winter- it's just a shell, so it has little warmth value. Just keeps me dry and the wind doesn't go through it ( volcom + goretex = win).

Bandana isgood on cold days, but it's also good for windy days, or if you forgot sunscreen and don't want to be a lobster.

Best spring setup is hoodie, tall tee, snowpants (vents open), thin gloves, gogs, icons. Too bad i only get about 2 days of spring riding in the midwest before its over..fuck.
