Ive been looking at going to uvm. All i saw were hipster indie kids there. Is that all it is?

Im between uvm and cu. Cant make up my mind. Any other insight on the school would be great.

There are a bunch of uvm threads from the past few years.
If you are looking to ski more than weekends, then UVM, getting to and from summit and vail counties is a bitch. There are tons of hipsters at UVM, yes, but there is also a dope freeskiing scene including a freestyle team at UVM.

Don't judge the whole student body at the school just because you walked around campus for a few hours one day. I don't know what constitutes a "indie hipster kid" or why this is bad but I can assure you there are people of all types of personalities and lifestyles here. You'll have a real good time here, I'm happy I picked it over DU and CU. And skiing is much closer for sure

uvms a great time. Every place has their hipsters, hippies, pot heads, and frat boys. UVM has a huge population of pot heads, hipsters and hippies but we all coexist.

This thread has been helpful, i ain't looking at UVM but St. Mikes. Got in and i am thinking that is where i will go because it is really what i want for a school. I just want to make sure i don't head into the hipster capital of the world.

good help. also what parks do you go to mostly. i went to sugarbush and didnt gind it too special jump wise. i know killington and stowe are supposed to be great.

been accepted to both uvm and st. mikes.

i also really like quinnipiac

probably gunna head to UVM though

uvm is awesome. its great how there's quite the mix of people here. i love it. sitting in the davis center and people watching is probs one of my fav things to do in between classes.

More specifically in the cyber cafe trying to write a paper listening to the obnoxiously loud Asians that are always here

NO! there are all sorts of people if you are into stereotyping. fuckin indie? none of my friends are indie at all, show heads, pot heads, shredders, maybe some hippies, the occasional hesh person.

k on to the next thing. the weather. i live in wisco so im used to shit. but does it affect u much and is it compleye shit

i go to champlain and burlington is the shit. mad chill kids mad shredders and pot heads. i ride the bush and their park is mad fun but am getting a killington pass aswell next year and maybe stowe. the weathers not that bad the summer fall and spring are gorgeous but the winter long and cold for sure. but what do you expect its VT and you are skiing from november well into april. It still feels like winter here right now but thats good because that means more shredding

don't live in burlington but lived all over the midwest (including wisco) before VT. The climate here is similiar to upper WI and MI but with mountains.

the falls here are pretty damn beautiful. getting that early season ski day with foliage still on the trees is awesome. but as much as you may like winter and be used to it, its FUCKING LONG and its gets FUCKING COLD. and it keeps going. but spring and spring skiing here are some of the best times in burlington.
also, too many people ride bikes way too early in the season. for fucks sake, itll still be winter and you'll have people biking to class.

im deff applying to uvm next year, can freshman have cars? because i would want to make the drive to killington for the weekends and stay at my home mt

agreed,

but i am all about the glades and jay doesnt get any better for that. boltons really convenient and close too withhhh night skiing so you can go after classes. you gotta get your moneys worth!

Sugarbush. I had so much fun at the bush this year. The jumps are kinda wack, they mowed them down before I could hit the big guy, but the flow and atmosphere is untouchable.

I kinda want triple major next year, night skiing at Bolton is so convenient and Jay is the best of the east.

i grew up right outside of burlington, and living there i can say that there are a ton of kids like that but also a ton of really cool kids. also, if youre deciding between uvm and cu, and your concern with uvm is the people that go there, do not go to cu.. boulder and burlington are extremely similar, but CUs ratio of weird people to people that are fun to hang out with is definitely worse than UVMs.

then again you should never judge a school because of the people that go there.

no matter where you go, you'll meet people who have similar interests.

Pffffffffff rails are fun though. And we left the park.......... like 4 times :)

All the good tree days happened when we were on vacation, we got some good runs in though.

Bolton and jay peaks parks cant compare to stowe but i like sugarbush as a whole better then Stowe. Way too many try hards at Stowe, in the park and in the woods.

gotta try hard to be good.nothings easy about skiing. I cant complain with stowes woods, however jay is def. the best bet there.

Nah... Your best bet would be going to Killington. Killington and Stowe have the best overall terrain but Killington from my opinion has a better vibe and is cheaper than Stowe. However it is a little further away

This is exactly why I probably won't get a Stowe pass again. Sugarbush is way more chill. The vibe is so much better. You can ski with anyone at Sugarbush, sure the jumps aren't as good, but I'd rather have fun than ski somewhere that has a bad vibe.

gonna be a freshmen at uvm next year...so stoked! im also looking for a chill roomate if anyone else doesnt have one

not technically but there are said places to park your car for periods of time. Also uvm transportation and public transportation loves writing tickets, so keep that in mind.
