University of Utah or University of Colorado, Boulder?

lol good job correcting yourself. i was waiting for the floodgates of jealous NSers to unleash fury on your academic prowess. Also Utah denied me with a 2.9 , a 27 act and an Eagle scout. weird.

U of U has a pretty good med school. Not related if you're going into film but that's why I'm going there over Boulder. And I love Boulder.

Utah's great for everything. Check it out. Maybe take some university tours as well to get a feel for yourself. Good luck!

And building a new Dental School. Very strong in pre-med/pre-dent. Strong in math and science and engineering. My sons still undecided, but if he goes out of state it will be the U. It just feels right. He got his dorm room assignment yesterday!

College/grad school rankings are based solely on research portfolios. Has nothing to do with "student success" statistics

This is true. I think you'll be happy either way so I'd say look at what program you're in and where the schools are ranked, or talk around with some companies and see who they would rather hire from. I'm at Utah right now and couldn't be happier. Great program in biomed engineering, good business school, fun times on the weekends, awesome skiing, and a pretty fun city. Also, I really don't get why people talk shit on mormons, last two hookups have been mormon chicks, the keep the city clean, they're damn good looking, and they keep a bunch of the hippy fucks/coke whores away (and send them to CO). If you ski park, utah/co are probably pretty close, if you want to get some pow/bc in then there is no comparison, UT is better.

Too bad we're talking about CU Boulder, not CU Denver, making your comment completely irrelevant while mine was only mostly irrelevant.

I have been accepted into UC, Boulder and not heard anything from U of U yet. Being from Norway it takes a lot of time to acquire a visa etc. and I had to choose Boulder before it was to late. Now I am wondering if people that are attending UC, Boulder (or have attended) could help me find the best residence hall to live in? I have heard that the general dorms are the best, is this true? (Btw i will start as a sophomore if that changes anything)

Also, is it hard to get a single room?

Thank you so much for the help so far!

yes general dorms for sure, on main campus, not willvill and not kitt. if you stay away from those you'll be pretty much fine wherever you end up dorm wise. not hard to get a single room but you have to pay extra for it and its its tiny as fuck

This^^^ i agree with pretty much everything

(btw who are you? I'm on the freestyle ski team...)

anyway yes I go to CU I can vouch for the ski team. its park AND big mtn/ back country. There are people driving up literally every day of the week and some people live up in breck second semester so theres always a place to stay on weekends. I worked my schedule out last semester to have t/th off and next semester I have mon/fri off. Ski all the Epic pass mtns, backcountry at berthod, trips to utah, just depends where your priorities are. driving to the mtns is kind of a pain but we all just pitch 5-10 bucks if its a full car.

RAPs aren't awful IF you are on the main campus. try to steer clear of willvill or kitt. much harder to get back to from classes/ night on the hill/ urban/ whatever

There is a shit ton to do here. if there are people you want to avoid, its not hard to avoid them so the argument of there being a bunch of bros or whatever is irrelevant. its a big school but once you find your group of friends if feels smaller. If it comes down to cost, do what you gotta do. I'm paying in state and its still expensive but I love living here, i can't imagine being somewhere else after being here.

oh missed the "i had to choose CU before it was too late" bit. sawwrryy. other advice still applies.

I know its an old thread but I;m looking at these two schools pursuing an engineering degree in either civil/environmental or mechanical. Anyone have any experience in these fields at either school? Im heading to park city this spring break and planning on visiting. Im also visiting boulder later in April, I live in Illinois

Definitely CU if you actually care about your degree more than the skiing, both will probably get you the same education but Engineering at CU is much more highly regarded than at UofU

who gives a fuck

you can have a good time at either school if you do well for yourself

tips on living at u of u or cu

1. dont smoke weed in the middle of the library.. you'll prolly get in trouble and have to pay some money :(

2. commit to learning a lot more than your courses ask for

3. put your number in every girls phone. asking for # isn't gonnna get you anywhere

4. 20 smoke weed and fuck

college is a great experience but don't linger that bitch cause eventually ya gotta move up in the world

YEah ive heard from people its more about like who you are and what you bring to the table as an employer rather than your transcript as much

I know this is an old thread but I am going to make some college visits out west in the next two winters and I know I will be visiting CU but what other good colleges have some good skiing. I am from Ohio so it takes literally nothing to impress me. I really like to focus on my academics. I have a 28 act but I just did a ton of tutoring so it should end up around 32 based on my practice tests. I have a 3.8gpa (my school weights it so it is 4.26 on their scale). I want to go into either chemical or mechanical engineering, I am currently taking an AP chem course and I seem to like it and my dad is obsessed with chemistry. Also if I had to chose an east coast college, I wouldn't mind. I just wanna get out of the midwest lol. Oh i forgot, I don't really care about how good the park is, I am more of an all mountain/tree guy when it comes to bigger resorts.

At this point you really shouldnt be picky. Just figure out a way to get the fuck out of Ohio.

Okay because my dad has been pounding the idea of ohio state into my head for years but its in Ohio lol. I am a huge fan of their sports but id rather not have 300 kids in all of my classes. I may switch my college visit next year from Utah to somewhere on the east coast.

OP went to CU boulder. Became friends with totally trevor, and got some ill clips in many of his edits. I am thanksful to have met OP myself.

Both of my parents went there so that is why it is drilled into my head. They also have a really good engineering program. If it makes you feel any better my neighbor is a Spartan Fan.
