University of Ottawa (Help me out)

So it looks as if I might be attending University of Ottawa next fall. I would be very thankful if some fellow NS´ers would help me out by giving me their two cents on the city of Ottawa and the University and how far it is to some decent BC skiing.

Thanks!

go ottawa GG's!!

and personally i love the city, not a high crime rate. im not sure about the club scene and shit since im only 15 and live like 30 min from down town. Ive heard the university is pretty good, theres also carelton.

Hey I'm from Ottawa. Its a great wintertime city. Theres lots to do, great scene downtown, not a lot of crime or stupid people in general. I don't go to school at home but U of O is legit. Good sports, they rank high in their programs it'd be a good choice.

Ottawa is about as far away as you can get from decent BC skiing (4 or 5 hours by a very expensive plan ride or 2 day's nonstop drive) but there are alot of much smaller hills across the river in Quebec that are anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour outside of downtown Ottawa so theres stuff to keep you occupied.

I'd go for it man.

Yeah man I go to uOttawa, it's fucking fun as hell.
The campus is pretty compact, so you don't have to walk very far at all ever. You're right downtown Ottawa, like the parliament buildings are 10 minutes away walking, but it doesn't feel like it at all until you step off campus. The city is retardedly fun. The clubs in Ottawa are awesome, and if you aren't 19, or don't have a fake Hull is pretty dirty but it can also be a lot of fun. I'm in first year, so I live in res and it's wicked, there's always a party around if you don't have the emotional or financial needs to go out.
There's a bunch of decent (for Ontario) skiing places within like half an hour and some wicked good urban spots around on and off campus as well.
The only real complaint I have about this school is the food services though. The food is super shitty, super over-priced and super inconsistent as far as availability goes sometimes. Having said that, there's a bunch of places within walking distance and it's pretty easy to cook in residence.
What program are you gonna take?

I visited UofO like a month ago. I applied as a transfer student there for Fall 09'. I want to study French Literature, so I figure that's a good place to do that. I like the city a lot. Lot of fun bars and clubs around and just a pretty place in general. I would be looking to live off campus probably in the Sandy Hill Neighborhood. Let me know if anyone going there would want to get an apartment with me, since i won't know anyone there.
