So im looking at colleges and im thinking of U of O in Eugene. does anybody go there? live in Eugene? can anybody tell me some things about the school/town?

any help is vastly appreciated +k

Hey man, I go to UO and am currently here in eugene. What can I say.. cool town, good school, not a ton of people that shred alot but they're around. I went to CU-Boulder for 2 years, Eugene is comparable as a city to Boulder, just cheaper, more relaxed, less frat bro's but unfortunately there aren't a bunch of legit mountains within 2 hours. Mt. bachelor is sweet, 2 1/2 hours away which isn't bad for more than a day trip, although I have made the day trip many times. I might be biased since I grew up in oregon but I like shredding here more; more snow, less people. But yeah its a good place, lemme know if you got any more questions

that place looks sick but idk if i could handle all of the sports i mean it would be a great party school seeing how everyone gets drunk the day before the day of and after the games haha. but also another question is how close to a resot is it.

Eugene is dope if you like to party. I go to U of O and its super chill. If you like good parties, good beer, good bud, and good shows then u cant hate on Eugene...The ski scene isnt that big cause were a good two and a half hours away from any legit hill but it makes for some epic trips with friends. The ski and snowboard teams got some dudes that throw down, just gotta find the right scene.

Like near Eugene, or on the east side? Nothing to ski near eugene, closest thing is willamette pass, like an hour from eugene, but its a shit resort. Not really a resort just a bump on the side of the road with a lift. They have 2 or 3 boxes all about 6-7 feet in length and 1 jump currently. Thats about as shitty as you can find... So yes, there are small shitty hills to ski, or you can make the 2.5 hour trek to bachy and kick it with legit people in the park

an hour away might as well go to bach, just didnt know if there was anything in the close proximity. thanks, +k

Portland State all the way, ride 3 days a week, at Hood. school has a bus that goes up, and we got 300 kids in our club.

Otherwise Eugene is the place to be if you love football and everything about sports.

Likeeeeee? I just dont like it, often they lie about snow totals and temperatures too, thats just not cool. I swear the ODOT cam for willamette pass always says something different for temp then willamettes site.

Don't trash talk Willamette, that place can be so sick. This coming from someone who used to practically live at Squaw. I don't know of any other place that is closed monday-thurs, I've been there on a few fridays after its dumped all week and I had deep first lines all day. Its doesn't get crowded at all. They've got some decently steep areas too, definitely steeper than Bachelor.
I've gone there a few times on normal days just to mess around with my friends when I didn't feel like driving to Bachelor. If you're going there to ride park, well thats just dumb. Its a small resort with only two real chairlifts but there's still plenty of fun to be had.

all over the backside, RTS, Success (and in the trees in between) definitely steeper than anything you'll find at bachelor. Best powder day I've ever had was at willamette, dumped 3 feet in the early week when they were closed. But whatever if all you want to do is bitch about how willamette sucks then go somewhere else

Was i talking about how steep the runs are? How bachelors runs are so much steeper?

No. And you can find untracked powder from a weeks storm on bachelor... Its called out of bounds. Northwest may not be as steep as RTS but you can get a solid longgggggggggggg run in on the upper trees.

Anyway. I was addressing how they present snow totals and conditions on the website. Fucking ski willamette, i dont give a shit what you do. I gave advice to the OP, something you didnt really do, and stated my OPINION. Maybe talk about the topic of the thread rather than come in and talk about how im bitching and to leave, just a thought.

Its willamette, they are laid back as hell, apply for a job in park crew, work like once a month and build whatever the hell you want

There isn't much to do in Eugene and I just get a bad vibe from the people that go there. Maybe its just me idk...and the weather is TERRIBLE.

and as far as activities, it's close enough to portland, skiing etc. Then again, my town makes Eugene look like a metropolis so my opinion my be skewed.

transfered to UO after 2 years at u of Utah... im happy with my decision here as a school but nothing compares to SLC skiing. The school, town, beer, community and herb ( as mentioned above) is awesome but dont count on driving less then an hour to go skiing at a shitty mountain. the drive to bach is LONG and worth it but after doing it every weekend for a couple weeks it gets really old. if youd like to ski a lot while in college id recommend going somewhere else but once again the schoool is very good

Personally, not a huge fan of Eugene, but I have just had some bad experiences there... Overall it seems pretty cool - a lot smaller feel than you'd expect...
My biggest issue with it was just the obnoxious amount of the lame sort of stoner hippies there are... (the ones who aren't chill at all, and are instead, pretty much just kinda jerkbaggy, and/or total moochfaces.) But eh... it's a smaller city with a college, and it has a few different scenes going on so its cool in its own ways.

Not to hate, I'm from Oregon and love it but U of O is so shitty if you're a skier. No close mountains, shitty weather and nothing to do. Go to the University of Utah or somewhere else if you want to ski.

the campus is nice, phil knight went their so they get a shit ton of stuff. also if your into sports its really sick. eugene is an okay place buts theirs a lot of smelly ass hippies, not the cool kind.
