ive been looking here and uvm, obviously uvm is good for skiing, anyone know what ski areas are around UNH, and how far they may be? thanks
 
Skip both UVM and UNH. The best college to get ski time and class time is Plymouth State Univerity.

waterville valley = 20 min

loon = 20 min

cannon = 30 min

tenney (small but sweet trees and lift line runs) = 10 min

And its hella cheaper than UVM. Ask anyone who goes there.
 
UVM is big and expensive. Its a good school but way too overrated.

And its not like I hold a grudge...I got in, just didnt go.
 
ahaha, sure it's a better ski school, but that's about the end. Plymouth state is not NEARLY up to the level unh or uvm is.
 
As different as your parents will try to convince you, a diploma is just a piece of paper. If you present yourself with poise, dignity, and dont come off as a punk, you will get any job you are qualified for. College is not about the degree. After 3 years, I've learned college is about kissing major ass. My gpa is where its at because I treat professors with respect and they understand where I'm coming from as a student. You dont need college for most any job as training, 2 months watching over someones shoulder is enough for *MOST* jobs. But employers look for college graduates because they know they will be well rounded and responsible.

Just because you go to an ivy league school, doesnt mean you are smart. (certain presidents come to mind)
 
yes that may be true. but if an employer has to make a decision between 2 equally qualified kids, and one went to dartmouth and one went to uvm, i know which one he's picking
 
agreed...but only if they are equally qualified.

...when picking a college you have to figure out where YOU will develop best.
 
dude what are you talking about? Smuggs, Stowe, Sugarbush, Jay peak even Bolton Valley are close to UVM. Loon cannon tenney?...haha. Burlington is also better than any city in NH.
 
plymouth is the danks but its a little small but its super close to the mountains. i also hear UNH has a course where you go skiing once a weekend for a semester and you get credits for it, they told me when i visited there.
 
I'm heading to Plymouth State but UNH overbooked by 300 people this year so I think it's impossible for you to get in.
 
so ive heard from at least half a dozen people+ colleen that plymouth is beat. and uvm is pretty much THE skiing college on the east coast
 
yea...i dunno though i was under the impression 1390 wasing amazing...just decent.

that sucks though...with the athlete thing and all...maybe someone in admissions had a bad day.
 
Ya it was weird, the kid was a 3 star athlete, VP for student council, 94 average, 1250 sats, got into cornell, but not UNH.

college is what you make it bro. what you put in is what you get it, be it grades, friends, and a good time.
 
i'm talking the quality of the school, not the fun i had. the buildings are all crap and shitty (you're lucky cause mary lyon is the nicest dorm), the town sucks, and half the teachers i had blew donkey asshole. this year was a waste. there are mad better schools than plymouth, don't make a mistake! don't go to plymouth!

plus if you get into unh and go there melvs will be your friend!
 
1250 will rarely get you into an ivy league school because they are so many kids with those charactersics you mentioned but with higher SAT's as well
 
if ur not going out west, i dont see why u woudlnt go to uvm. i think id fuckin die if i went to a place as small as plymouth, st. mikes, etc. that might just be me but i feel like the bigger the school the more fun it is b/c theres just more people to meet and more stuff to do all the time.
 
Middlebury is in Vermont and has their own mountain.. its a great school but really hard to get into. And try all the nestac schools... Colby, Bowdoin, Bates, etc... Colby is amazing.
 
that thing blows so much, no good terriain, all doubles, no park, small, and i heard you have to say the quadratic formula to get on the lift.
 
go to uvm, then we can still chill since ill be at champlain probably. i have low standards i guess, but whatever, i fucking love that place man. champlain is killer
 
UNH is what you make of it, you can come out of here with a damn good education, or you can waste your life away and manage to get by. It's an hour and a half to Loon and Waterville, less to Gunstock, pats Peak, and Cranmore. Plus it's within a half hour of the beach and Durham is a sick town and a nice area.
 
UNH is def sick because of Portmouth being near by, and the beach and the town of Durham. And while there are ski hills within 1.5 hours, I would not even consider it a "ski college".

When was that article in some ski mag about "the top ten best ski colleges in America" they went down by region...Plymouth was in there, UNH was not.
 
ya, there is definitly a small ski scene at UNH though, during the only big snow with good building snow I'd say almost every easy rail around UNH had a lip onto it within a day.
