University of Minnesota Duluth. Tell me about it.

I believe you can get to the grand ave entrance via city bus but it's not a straight shot

DTA buses with ski gear is pretty sketch. considering you will be over in West Duluth. If people are serious about this we should organize a carpool...

to answer this... its not a straight shot. but you could take the 6, 11, 13 or whatever bus that goes to the holiday center, then get on the 1 or 2 bus that goes from the holiday center down Grand Ave.

And to the new UMD candidates, honestly its way easier to try to carpool with people. My freshman year I went multiple days a week with no car and hardly any money with bunch of cool dooods.

MAKE FRIENDS.

If someones near west duluth theres a very slim chance that i would be able to possibly pick you up when i'm driving over there from superior.

Taking the bus from campus to spirit isn't bad. It is really slow but you cant beat the free price and good stories come from riding the DTA. You do get lots of strange looks if your in your full gear but its very do able doable

2015-2016 season ill be startng freshman year at UMD or Scholastica, pretty stoked. Im getting passes for Spirit, Giants, and Du Lac. $290 total at current prices. I'll probably have a car, hit me up then. I know one person in Duluth and maybe 5 people going to UMD/Scholastica. Regardless, I'll need some skiers in my life so I can keep my sanity.

hey guys im planning on going to Duluth next year as well it would be super chill to know some guys in advance of going. So if anyone is serious about going pm me and ill add you on Facebook or something.

I have CONFIRMED that there is a bus that goes from the UMD campus directly to Spirit Mtn. It is a brand new bus route this year! hellz yeah!

Sadly thats not a new route. From UMD you take the 6 downtown and then hopefully it changes into the 2. DTA route 1,2,3, run out west of the city and have always stopped at grand ave.

I'm up here right now and it's sick! Classes kinda suck and I'm still waiting for ski season, but it's an awesome time. Also, it's super easy to find people to bum a ride with to the slopes

btw.. i pick up skiing hitchhikers on grand ave on my way to spirit from superior. If you see a silver ford cli-taurus. You'll know.

Damn, cannot believe this thread is still going. I am still at UMD, and it's a pretty good time. i do not ski as much as i would like to, but i still get out there. Parties tend to be first priority around here, which i don't mind, but this is quite the party school. If anyone has any questions about UMD or anything, hit me up. I have lived in the dorms, the apartments, and now i am in a house (near BU). The DTA bus line kind of blows, but it's not a bad time. You can't beat free transportation, and as i read in an earlier comment, you do get some funny stories from the bus (especially if you ride the 6). Nice to read all of your comments too, hope to see some of you out there sometime this season.

man I miss UMD. I used to go take some hot laps in between my 8AM and 11AM classes, or any other gap. Have everything to your self.Colorado fucking sucks sometimes. Full of kids with no job who take shit way serious. On weekends at Spirit if you get in the park before like 11 you're golden, you can get to Breck at 9AM on any day of the week and still stand in a huge ass line to get started on the jumps

i am a senior in high school this year and am plannin on goin to UMD or UST...if i go to umd i would definately get a pass to spirit...that would be soo tight...i let all ya umd folk know how the dice roll when college decisions are taking place

Fast Foward: Glad I stayed local instead of going out west for school. The small perks of day to day skiing in Minnesota are really hard to beat. You go to the park and you know everyone there. The jumps aren't like out west but we've got the rails. Save up enough money and a winter break or spring break trip out west can satisfy the inner powderhound. Stoked for 3 more seasons of college skiing!

Assuming you don't have parents that will pay your whole way for you, be thankful about the cost as well assuming you're an in-state student. I have a job in a field related to my degree and it's crazy how many coworkers I work with that get paid about the same as me but are broke AF because they went to some private school (especially a private school out of state). UMD was super cheap, so if your college degree doesn't land you the paying job you were hoping at least you aren't fucked for life

plus fuckin killin' it doggies! Went to the DU vs UMD games a week ago, one night got kicked out within a period...good times, about to startup a boxed fireball thread...
