University of DENVER

I'm a freshman at DU now and how in the hell did you ski 70+ days a year?? Am i missing something, or did you just never go to class?

I completely forgot about this. But 4 years later I fully agree with whatever drunken bullshit I spouted. DU still sucks and I'm sure that girl is merely a chlamydia vector working as a sous chef at Bubba Gumps in Breck.
 
You create a block schedule when you sign up for classes and try not to have morning classes. For one of my winter quarters, I was able to have all of my classes stacked in just Tuesday, THursday, and one class Friday Morning. I skied 50-60 days easily.
 
I spent my freshman year at DU... let me say this: FUCK DU, their administration, daniels school of business, and the retards that actually think it is a respected school. Stay the fuck away fellas.

i was a direct admit to daniels on the chancellors scholarship... didnt do shit ever, barely went to classes, and pulled a 3.96 my freshman year. classes are easy as fuck, half the kids you're curved against are legitimately retarded. Take a look at the acceptance rate, its like 68% or some shit.

Party, wise, the school sucks as well. If you want to party, go to boulder. RA's will go out of their way to write you up (ie they hear noise in the room after 10pm and search the entire room and fridge for anything they can write you up for). Security are dicks as well, and if they think that you are drunk for any reason they will breathalyze you and send you to detox (detox is not just for alcohol, its a bunch of homeless crackheads -believe me) if you blow above a .08. If you don't comply with their power-tripping demands, they will call the cops on you. The cops hate DU security because they're always forced to give out Minor in Possesion tickets that are an absolute waste of their time.

Myself, along with 4 other guys on my floor got suspended during my freshman year for retarded alcohol writeups. Another got expelled. All of us transferred, in addition to 3 other kids on my floor. I was the only one that didnt transfer to boulder (transferred to syracuse and its so much better)

As a freshman, expect about 2 house parties on any given weekend night, and a couple fraternity parties. There are 2 bars that underclassmen can usually get into. Don't expect anything Sun-Wed. And you will see the same exact people at every party or bar you go to. It is NOT a party school. Its small enough that, if you hook up with a girl, people find out about it. Much like highschool.

Oh, and expect stupid amounts of cocaine because of all the money at DU. Not only was I not the only guy that didn't do it on my floor, but that didn't do it at least one out of two weekends.

You're right, where the money goes the cocaine follows. But I didnt realize just how much money the average DU student's family has until i went there. I knew it was a bunch of rich kids, but not that they'd be driving masseratis and shit. I transferred to another super rich kid school (syracuse), and I can say there is definitely plenty of blow here, but nothing like DU
 
i'm not talking shit on people doing coke. I'm saying its everywhere at Denver.

Also, I got suspended for fucking retarded ass shit. like having my room searched on my birthday for playing a movie "too loud" (not loud at all) and them finding a single empty blue moon. Or getting charged with theft for them finding a cafeteria cup in my freezer during thanksgiving break that I didnt even know was there, my roommates friend had left it there. Or getting charged with dishonesty for not snitching out my roommate.

There were a couple RA's in my building last year on a permanent power trip. 8 RAs (including my own) got fired in my building because other RA's snitched on them for drinking. If that doesnt show how retarded it was, I dont know what does.
 
Sooo what you're saying is that your experience with a select few people on a powertrip ruined your experience of the entire student body?

I lived in JMac and the RA's were awesome. They would go out partying with us, and warn us when the only butthurt RA was roaming around.
 
Partially - but also that the administration was not understanding in the fact that not only were they trying to kick me out of school for retarded ass shit, but also that I had gotten straight A's the term before, and only 1 A- the term before that. The people, specifically Su Pal among others that you have to meet with for write ups are power tripping as hard as the RA's. I remember one of my meetings with Su went like this

Me telling my account of the story (actually telling the truth, and admitting to just about everything I was being charged with)

"I don't believe you." (proceeds to charge me with everything, even though I wasn't even in the room for half of the shit. I had walked back into the room while my roommate was getting written up and I got charged with being disrespectful to the RA's when I didn't even say a word to them.)

One of my friends got in a full on screaming match with Su Pal because she is such a raging cunt.

And I remember last year after tons of people were getting written up for dumb shit, the RA's had a meeting with the administration, and were told to crack down even harder on drinking and noise violations. I know this because my RA told me this before he got fired. There were two times where my roomate and I heard "RA on Duty!" by the bathroom, and we went and looked into our eyehole. The RAs were literally putting their ear up against our door trying to hear something incriminating that they could write us up for. If that isn't fucked up, I don't know what is. Plus, even if it was just a select few RA's that were power tripping you cannot tell me that DU security as a whole isn't on a permanent power trip. God I hated DU security.

But I will say you are right that, at least in my year, JMac was 5x more lenient than halls. Definitely live in JMac if you are gonna go to DU. But I advise against it if youre interested in anything other than skiing.
