anyone know if this is a hard school to get into?

i have a gpa of 3.8 right now so i'm wondering if that's good enough or if i have to try harder to get in

its not that hard to get into... you could get into a much better school with a 3.8. its a nice school though. convince your parents to take you to look at it, its like a free ski trip.

its my top choice, im still waiting to hear. its a great place, with close skiing, everywhere

yeah the best thing about du is that it's close to alot of good resorts. that's the main reason why I went there. other wise it's kinda gay like most expensive colleges.

im going there.... DU '11

im going there because:

-The city of Denver is tight

-The skiing is amazing and Close

-They have a top 10 business school

-They gave me Scholarship money unlike UC Boulder

-Campus is tight

-I think i might actually get some shit done there instead of partying my ass off everyday.

CU Boulder outa state = More $$...plus like i said Denver has scholarship money to give away. I get $8,000 a year just for good academics and can get even more if i do well during school so I mean the price is really what you make it. But yes, It is a private school.

Lots of rich coke heads at DU. I don't really like the people that I have met that go there. Its def not a ski school.

i went to visit DU and I was very impressed with the school. It's really nice and most of the buildings seem very new. I decided that im going to CU next year, but DU would definately be my second choice.

^ yeah i wanna go to CU. But i know id just party and ski my ass off and never get anything done. Hopefully i can make some homies over at CU and I can party over there sometimes. only like 30 minutes tops...

I'm actually in a class at DU right now. 3.8 shouyld get you in especially if you did well on your tests. YOu could get a good academics scholarship with that too. DU is sick but it's expensive without a scholarship

A-Basin is sick, but theres no way its only 1 hour away....

strait from their website:

By car from Denver: The resort is a 96 mile drive west from Denver International Airport via I-70 west. Take I-70 west to Silverthorne (exit 205), then travel 12 miles east on U.S. Highway 6. Or, choose the 68 mile scenic route from Denver by taking I-70 west to Loveland Pass (exit 216), then proceed west on U.S. Highway 6 for 8 miles.

people that think denver is close to the ski slopes must be from ohio and must drive hours to get a bunny hill. from the university of denver it takes about 1 hour and a half to get to breckenridge. A-basin sucks so dont go there, in my book we call these people front range weekend gapers. so quit saying the ski resorts are close from denver. oh by the way have fun driving on I-25 with all the other gapers.

I applied there. and im from pa... not ohio, but pa... and I drive an hour to get to a hill, youre right. soooooo screewwwwww that.

like i have said many other times, CU is not the best place to be if you want to ski a lot. There are better ski communities and mountains in other places of colorado. have fun paying a ton of tuition at CU and driving 1 hour 45 minutes to ski on I-25.

do you live in denver? in you did you would know that DIA is about 30-40 minutes east of denver out on the plains. from downtown it is only a hour

I go to Du and i fucking love it, ive rode about 50 days so far, and there are a ton of good riders that go here, every weekend ive pretty much had a house or condo to stay in thats around a resort, and with no school on thursdays I-70 driving isnt really an issue, i got 3 days in vail last week with the 40inches of fresh there it was epic, aparty from the skiing though i still think du is sick, failry big party scene considering how small of a school it is, and the academics are amazing, atleast for the business school, Du cant be beaten in my opinion

and your a fucking dumbass, first off, you take I70 to get to the mtns, not i25 like you said in two different post, I25 just goes through denver, and unless your going to wasted state, you cannot find a ski resort closer than 30 minutes. So if you want to go to a good college that sets up the rest of your life, your gonna have to accept driving an hour or so, which really isnt that bad, so maybe before you start talking about the ''weekend i25 gapers'' you should find out the name of the interstate that runs through your fucking ski hill, or atleast suggest a good school that is anywhere near a resort in colorado. you cant say denver is not a good ski college, 2 of my buddies have had full spread on freeskier this year, and several of them are sponsored, ill bet money that us weekend gapers could tear you apart on the hill, peace the fuck out

haha so i mix up i-25 and i-70 so what. dude you took that like an attack, and yeah i go to wasted state which is a 30 minute drive going to speed limit to CB. well maybe your friends could own me in the park but i doubt it when it comes to the big mountain scene. and you want to talk academics, wasted state has a sick geology program and i happen to be studying petroleum geology so it works out great. close skiing, great school and if i saw your goofy ass on the ski slope i would make you my bitch.

the drive from the denver airport to the mountains broke my balls. if you're going to school to ski, i donno if i would go to denver.

yeah and cb has terrible snow... u got good terrain but a terrible snow pack...and WSU isn't the greatest for acAdemics...cu and du however are both good schools esp. for business

Do you live in Denver? because if you did you would know that the airport is about 30 miles outside of Denver

cb has had terrible snow this YEAR. but in the last couple of winters CB has gotten some great snow and even before i went to western i remember CB getting a snow storm that gave them more than 5 feet. but yes this year has been terrible for snow but in the past they have done just as well as most ski resorts.

it sucks skiing out of denver. I've lived here my whole life and it's just too fucking far of a drive. The traffic isn't always bad, but a lot of the time it is. Gas gets real expensive. If you're going to du or even cu you're probably on mommy and daddys credit card so it's no big deal.

yeah i agree with both. I am originally from colorado springs and it is a hell of a drive, something that i dont enjoy doing. and yes if you are going to CU or DU you are probably a trust fund baby and can afford to drive all over because your parents are paying for it.

...yea, i drive about 1 hour and 30 minutes to get to a bunny slope...anything to me is close

wow, you mountain folk really do hate gapers...here in the midwest we just make fun of them, they dont get to us as much as they get to you.

haha when i worked at vail a lot of the guys i worked with were from the east coast and midwest and they hated them more than me.

that post was just copied from a-basins website......and no i dont live in denver but ive made the drive before. In my opinion Denver is not a ski town and i wouldnt say the school is close to skiing

well i'm looking for a ski town w/ really good academics so my parents pay for it or else i have to...

what IS a ski town then?

i doubt there is a good ski town with a school with great academics. i mean places in colorado have good schools but you have to drive awhile. dont go to utah. then places in washington, oregon and cali might have some good schools but i also think they require drives to if you are looking for good academics. and it really too depends on what you are going to be majoring in. but if you are considering denver you should also consider colorado springs. Colorado College is an excellent school but it is private and expensive. maybe try university of nevada in reno which is close to tahoe i think. their academics may be shit but i dont know. so i think in this situation you will have to either sacrifice academics and be closer to skiing or drive longer for better academics. so if you want to be in colorado and your parents want go academics i would go for CU Boulder over Denver university because boulder is may nicer than denver.

You are a fool and you need to change your screen name. You dont know shit about colorado and the university system and you are an out of state gaper. There are probably 100 threads about this if anyone really cares about Colorado universities they can pm me I have been in college for 5 years and been to every ski resort and college in colorado (worth going to) and i can steer your ass straight. Peace nig.

actually you can blow me because i have lived in colorado my whole life. you have been in college for 5 years and most of the institutions cause you are a moron and can get your shit straight, fucking triple major in communication, psychology, and recreation you clown.

everyone sucks. think about the people like me who live in pa and ohio and even WORSE. stop complaining or bragging or putting other people down..... seriously... im going to college to get closer to sicker people... sicker places... stop being lame.

amen...anything is better than driving an hour and a half for a 20ft jump, and a shitty flat box.....

Ok I dont really know what you are talking about. Are you saying I am a communication, psychology, and recreation major or are you. Because I thought you said you were studying petroleum geology. Anyway I have been at mines for 5 years with a bachelors in petroleum engineering and I am working on my masters in petroleum mineral economics. So I will probably be your boss some day. Also you mixed up I-25 and I-70 which is pretty bad. I just don't think that you are qualified to talk about skiing in Colorado. An hour drive from Denver is not bad at all and you have everything close by.
