Um, anyone who applied, please say whether you got in and what your SAT scores were. I have a 1300, and Im pretty sure I can get in, but $32,000 out of state is really expensive and I can only pay like $7000. So, should I try to take the ACT or the SAT over again to get a higher score and possibly some scgolarships?

Also, do yall think it would be possibel for me to get in state tuition if I took a year off of school, worked/skied at a resort for a year, and then went to school at boulder?

thanks.

also add any info that you think would help me decide where to go. I don't really know what I said above, but just add anything about Boulder that is important or something like that.

well you have to take into account what school i go to. its a realy hard private school. if i was at a public school i could easily get a's. as for my sat scores. i got bored 1/2 way through and didnt care enough to think anymore. thats what happens when your seated next to a window and its snowing like crazy outside. hahaha

UC Boulder is still around $19,000 a year for in-state residents. That's why it's full of rich Jeep Wrangler driving fratboy fags -- they're the only ones who's parents have enough money to send them there.

I went to CU denver, the same school but in denver, I had many of my friends go to CU. First of all If you are smart do not waste your money on a state school like boulder, the education is nothing special, you just get to live in colorado. It is overated and over frat boy stylyed out, the campus and school life is not layed back anymore , boulder is full of republican assholes who do not allow the fun times of yesteryear. dear god please do not waste your time in boulder, because CU is a very easy school to get into, take time off and live and ski in colorado but spend your money elsewhere for school....

thats bullshit if you got c's you slacked off, and you probablywould have slacked off harder if you were in a public school. I know tons of people that switched to private school after 8th grade or during highschool and they got the same gpa's...

i switched from private school to public school for highschool and i did much better at public school.

im applying to boulder this year. my top choice is uvm though.

I pretty much need a school that has architecture. Does CU denver have it?

theres no way. I'm from Boulder and have at least 30 friends at CU. They all say they pay under $10,000 a year.

Out-of-state at CU is a joke though.

im thinking about applying there to boulder. i got 1200(retaking though) and i have a rough 3.7 gpa.. out of 5. im taking 2 AP's and 1 honors senior year. i think i have an easy chance at boulder. but im applying early decision to NYU for film. the consider the portfolio you send them 50% of admission. so i figure if they love it. it might sway in my advantage. im hoping for the best.

it depends what programs your interested in. it has one of the best enginerring programs in the world. It also has really good sciences and journalism. other programs it is just ok. But saying CU isn't a good school academically, especially for being the large, public party school that it is, it kind of dumb. As far as public schools go, it is really good academically.

As far as how academic a school is depends a lot on the students. There are kids who will get more academically at CU than at Harvard, etc, if they are really into studying and putting in lots of time. It is true for any academic situation. But, at CU you get to ski a lot, be around tons of hot girls, drink and smoke obscene amounts, and if you try for it still recieve a good education.

o, and a 1300 and 4.0 wouldn't guaruntee you admission to every public school. Cal-Berkeley is ridiculously hard to get into.

im sorry, but that is a lame excuse i just recently stopped using. if your even at that private school, it means you have the capacity to get a's, so get off your ass, and do some fucking work.

$19000? i paid $3900 for this semester for 16 hours. that's before voucher credit, too. i suppose if you include cost of living (on campus) it's $6300 more. but that's still only $14100.

yes, arts and crafts here is a joke. after doing engineering for a year, my current major is nothing. honestly, here you can get a degree in most arts and science majors in three years if you come in with all of your maps done.

and frats here aren't even recognized by the university anymore.

what iggyskier said is really true. you get out what you put in most of the time. there's hundreds of resources outside of the classes you're in that can gain you so much if you choose to use them, and you can also do just fine never even exploring those extra options, but you won't get your money's worth.

as for frats, i can't really vouch for them in any state other than CO (i hear they're cool shit in some states), but around here there aren't many people i'd rather not hang out with than frat boys and sorority girls. if you're in the greek system, the only people not laughing at you are your fellow greeks.

no matter where you go, the education is all what you make of it. i'm in my second semester at CU. i transfered to CU from a much "better" school and i think it was the best decision i could have made.

you will definately get in with 1300, 4.0. i had 30 ACT score and a 3.6.

if you do take a year off and work/ski, you probably could get instate tuition. but it is more complicated than that because you have to show you independant from your parents or something like that.

and you probably wont be eligible for scholarships w/ a 1300.

My brother went to CU with a 3.9 gpa and a 34 ACT score and didnt get a scholarship... So, if youre a white male, good luck with that....

He wanted to study engineering, and he wanted to ski 2 or 3 times a week. Things worked out for him even without a scholarship, he makes bank as a civilian engineer in the navy.

you have to apply separately for scholarships...they dont just give you them. thats what i did and i got one. i got a 1300 too but seriously it has nothing to do with that just write a good essay.

i'm at boulder in the engineering school, and some of the academics are serious for sure. but like everyone has said, you get out what you put in. i'm currently in australia surfing 5 days a week, as well as getting some credit. and this is cheaper than out of state CU. but you can party your ass off in boulder and still rock it partying, and even ride alot too. second semester last year i was skiing 4 or so days a week, partying about the same amount of nights, and taking 16 engineering credits. you just gotta be able to handle your shit and you can have an awesome time and get a good education.

i'm definitely not in the frat scene, i think its pretty lame at boulder, but to each his own...

oh yeah i got 1360 SATs, 3.6 in HS and I don't get any money to go there.

hey if any of you want in the cu cult it might liven up now that school has started

Dude all i am saying is that I went and graduated from a small catholic university in Connecticut. I checked out CU boulder last year and fuckkkkk man, if I knew about this place 5 years ago I would of done everything in my power to be there.

Do what you have to do in order to be a student there. Shit, im probably moving out there in a few months.

All I have to say is that boulder is definitely one of the best scenes ive been to outside of San Diego... do it man
